I also will turn in my application for El Centro and Northlake. I have a 3.8 on pre requ.'s, 9 credits of support courses with 4.0 and 100 on reading comp on Hesi. I do not know if this will be sufficient. If not I will have to retake the Eng class that I made a B in. I spoke with Kanora at El Centro and she told me to apply due to last acceptance period they admitted gpa's as low as 3.66. I am also compulsively, obsessively checking my packet. At least I have only attended DCCCD so I do not have to worry about any transcripts. Good Luck to you!!
I just graduated with Jaxia - go with what makes you happy!!! That's why I switched careers - my money will be about the same, but I will have more time for my family and myself and that was what made me switch. It's scary, but it is also invigorating and exciting to change careers....and opportunities exist for a mesh of your two careers. There is a huge need for RNs with an IT background. To hear tell of it, nursing informatics is where the future may lie!

I am also hoping to get accepted for Fall 09. I haven't submitted the packet yet because I still have the CPR class to take this coming Saturday. I take it jpgmavs, you have a 4.0? I want to know what the competition is like so that I get an idea of where I stand. I have a 3.87 on the pre-reqs. Does anyone have an opionion on which program is easier to get into? El Centro or Northlake? I read on another forum that Northlake took in more people with lower GPA's or something like that. Any info would be much appreciated.
Again, not graduating until May, but maybe I can still help. No, the college doesn't exactly help you find a job, but they do set up lunches where various hospital groups come to the school directly after class to feed you and talk about their internships. One such lunch, two weeks ago, was hosted by UT Southwestern. I came, I applied, I interviewed on a Tuesday morning and had a job by that afternoon. There are several other students who have already accepted job positions, post graduation, and it's only February.

I am 29, been working as an IT guy for 9 years and have been back to school for the last 18 months or so. I finally got all the prerequisites out of the way.
Today I went downtown and turned in the packet. I was so freaked out about the packet, since I have heard of 4.0's not getting in due to some dumb packet mistake they made. I had my girlfriend check it and I checked it. Hopefully it's all in there and I did not make any mistakes or leave anything out.
If I get in then I will have a life changing decision. I would have to quit a job that pays really well, but I hate it. My parents seem uneasy, but my girlfriend supports me and also a few friends do. This dude wants into nursing!
Guess the wait until April 15th begins.
