Absolutely, include whatever outside activities in the community you are proud of. I have no hospital or medical field volunteer experience either.....I was busy raising my 3 kids and involved in their activities...voluteering in their school and sports. However, I did help my friend care for her mother in law (alzheimers patient) when she needed a break. I included that because I enjoyed my time with my friends mol and learned alot about her disease. That was my main focus on the volunteering part with a small segment about kids school/sports activities that i was involved in. However, I highlighted in the essay the part of myself that wants to be a nurse and what led me to that decision.
I applied to Gwynedd Mercy College (2cnd choice) in Montgomery county Pa and Abington Hospital Dixon School of Nursing in Abington Pa (montg county) Gwynedd has rolling admission, meaning they start taking applications in Sept and within 6 weeks give you a yes or no. Classes start in Sept 2010. For Abington, I applied to early decision which was Nov 15 and I should hear by Dec 15 for yes/no, which also starts Sept 2010. Very anxious to hear from Abington, they have such a good reputation and high NCLEX pass rates. But...at least I have been accepted to a school and regardless will start in the fall.

My school application essay asks for a summary of Experiences in voluntary and community services.
Problem is I don't really have any other than being the class mom for my oldest sons class, served as an officer of an off-road club for two years, and teaching a (10) kids how to ride and care for horses. Do you think I should include this??
