Applicants to PDX area Nursing Schools 2010

Published

Hi fellow applicants for 2010!!

I wanted to start a thread for all of us who are applying to various nursing schools in the area for 2010. I have applied to five different places: OHSU-Monmouth, University of Portland, Portland Community College, The University of Washington, and Boise State University. I wanted to cover myself and hopefully ensure that I would get in somewhere. I have a really good GPA and experience as an EMT-Basic so I am hoping that that will help my chances.

Just waiting it out until they send out notifications.....I just want to hear back!!! :banghead:

Good luck to everyone who applied!

Does anyone know if Bi 233 at PCC meets the OCNE genetics requirment?

I got into CCC, and just wondering if Bi 233 meets the genetics requirment at CCC.

It works for the nursing program at PCC, but not sure if it meets the requirment at CCC. Hopefully, someone would be able to answer. Thank you

Did you take BI 112? That class is now a prereq for the ap series and I know 112 counts.

Not generally. You could bring the class syllabus to the school and see if they'll accept it, but I think most students have to take some other kind of biology with genetics. I took BI233 at LCC and we covered genetics as well, but I used my BI 112 for my genetics requirement.

thank you for all the info.

I didn't take Bi 112, but I did take Bi 233 at PCC. Hopelly, Bi 233 meets the genetics requirement, so I don't have to take Bi 112.

Yes I just did a Search on PCC website a document that the Nursing Dept puts out states that 233 at PCC will meet the req at PCC so your good there. I would think as long as you can show the content is there CCC will OK it as well.

Where is a good place to take the CPR class we need?

What school are you going to MickiLynn?

I'm going to Linfield, and taking mine at the CPRLifeline on Barbur Blvd on June 25. Here's their website: http://www.cprlifeline.com/ but you will need to phone in your registration. Be sure to take the course for Healthcare providers.

Have fun!

Jen

Is CCC Clackamas comm college or is it Chemeketa!!

thank you for all the info.

When I took BI112 at Clackamas there were two women who had already completed all of their nursing coursework and were taking 112 in the summer because they couldn't graduate without it.

I would definitely urge you to go talk to advising about it rather than end up in the same position.

Jen,

I am going to PCC....I hope. I am on the waitlist (number 9). I just dont want to wait until the last minute.

I took it at PCC Central campus. It was effeciently run and relatively painless.

Hello, I'm looking for Barleynhops. I am in the summer 2010 cohort for Linfield and curious about which books I will need. I'm also hoping to buy some used from the prior cohort. Barleynhops, are you out there?

Thanks,

Celeste
