Applicants to Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health Fall 2018

Published

I have applied two times to the generic program and now I am applying into the bridge program for Fall 2018. Is there anyone else who is applying into either the generic or bridge program at County? If so, would you like to keep in touch so we can help each other? :cat:

Can any current student or grad who went thru the program tell me if the professors allowed the recording of lectures in class for your studying? Were there any restrictions?

I was able to record all lectures.

So far, we have been able to record most lectures. The only one we were not allowed to record was the one that covered suicide. Professor said not to record in case anyone shared something too personal.

Did you guys have an interview last year for the generic program?

Interviews? Wow! No, we did not have to go through an interview.

hi @VNLaura!! I’m an LVN and got accepted for fall 2019 Generic RN. Do you think it would be a good idea to ask about getting into the bridge? Or would it be better to do the 2year program?

It is up to you, but if I could do it over again, I would start from semester 1. It is really hard to adjust to the program jumping in to 3rd semester. It is doable, don't get me wrong, but in my opinion, it is easier to start from the beginning. If you are not in a rush, then stay in the generic and start from semester 1, you'll be better prepared.

If you have the option I would suggest doing the bridge. It is a hard program, but you can adjust. If you can get through it in one year why do two years ,well if you have the option.?It just does not make sence to me. It will not be any easier. Do not panic take it a step at a time. Believe me I thought about doing the generic, but I would have regret it. Hope this helps.

I am interested in the program but would like to know

Does the program require updated vaccinations?

Does the program drug test?

You do have to pass a health clearance exam. That entitles proof of vaccines or titers. As far as I know they don't do drug testing. I don't remember them doing that anyway.

Hi guys! I am so sorry I hadn't been able to log in to this site. We both (Mindy and I) got accepted into the bridge program at County. She didn't know exactly how many points she had, but she had 84 in total and I had 83. She made it into the Fall semester and I into the Spring. Yes, I didn't know that was an option, but when we apply into the bridge program, we are being considered to start either in the Fall or in the Spring. We are both doing the transition (N125) course this Summer (starting May 29th) and she is going right in to the Fall (3rd) semester in August. I take a break in between, but start the 3rd semester the first week of January 2019. At orientation/registration, there were 21 of us only. There were 2 or 3 that were in the list, but didn't show up. The Director told us that this time the cutoff went out the roof. Last year it was at 77 points, this year it was at 82 points (bridge program only). We got an email notifying us on Friday, April 20th and got the official letter a week later. If you have any other questions, please be patient with us. We are having to do a lot of requirements in order to register (health clearance, background check, practicing skills, etc.) besides working full time (and then some) so we are able to take it easy when we are attending the program. Thank you and good luck to everyone who applied into the generic program. You should be getting notified soon.

Hi I’m applied to the bridge this year, do you know if the points was 82 before the interview when u got in?

Hello, the cutoff was 82 points, and we were the last batch of students who did not have to go through an interview process. I believe your group was supposed to be the first to get interviewed, but then I heard the interview process was cancelled because of the Safer At Home mandate if I am not mistaken.

I did interview and was accepted but they pushed my class back because of Covid, I was suppose to do the transition class in June but now we are pushed back to June 2021??‍♀️??‍♀️
