apollo college

i have a few friends in apollo college and they told me "no one ever fails, they want our 40 grand" they went onto tell me that their school was made to suceed , while others are not. i graduated from CCSN now CSN and we had alot of people fail.that dosen't mean CSN is bad.. umph.. somehow i always get into these things.. are private nursing schools better than the community schools? i think not , they have to all meet a certain critera. thats why i wanted to know how everyone is doing. i donot like to argue with people and somehow i got wrangled into this discussion... arrggh... also does apollo ever go to valley or DSH or spring valley hospital? i have never seen them.. what hospitals do they go to ( i sure don't want to ask these girls)... also is it true apollo is now a BSN program? i think you are all wonderful to go to nursing school , and because i graduated from CCSN dosen't make it the perfect school. don't ever give up...

Hi Winningjob

Did you get the information you needed from Apollo financial aid? I think I read on another thread that you might have VA benefits. I had to use both VA and students loans to pay for the cost of the program but it will all be covered and I will pay back the loans 6 months after school is finished. My VA benefits covered a good portion of the tuition and I also have tuition assistance from my job that I will use first because I dont plan on working much longer. So for me the cost of the program really isnt that bad, but it is expensive if you dont qualify for any financial aid and have to use loans for the whole thing. I think the benefits of being done in two years and not having to get put on a waiting list out weight the cost of the program, it depends on the person and how you look at it. I am not in my twenties anymore and if I had to pay for the whole thing myself I know that I would still do it just so I can start right away and get into my career as soon as possible. I will be starting in the August class, will you also be starting soon?

I am excited and can't wait but most of all I am looking forward to a career as a nurse. It has taken a while for me to figure out what I want to do as a career and I feel lucky that Apollo is available in my area so that I have the opportunity to go.

Hi WanaBe-RN! Yeah, I got the information I needed. I met with the financial aid adviser and was able to max out my financial aid. I have an appointment with VA on June 22nd to start my case over again which means a good five hours of testing..YAY! (Looks like they had to Reopen my case instead of just transferring everything). I am hoping to get a "YES" from the VA for the program and then anything not covered I will take out in financial aid, but I am willing to take out the loans with or without the VA as well. I only have two years left out of the 12 years allotted for the Chapter 31 (vocational & rehabilitation program) so Apollo/Carrington's program at 18 months makes perfect sense! Ha...not in my twenties anymore either, but I am with you in that I would pay for it either way. I should be starting in the August 2nd start date as well! I already did the background check and drug test, so just waiting to pay the enrollment fee and start classes! Here's to hoping we will be in the same classes!

I just got accepted into the August 2nd class start date as well! I was able to secure 100% funding for school and am thrilled Apollo is here in Las Vegas. I'm an adult student going back to school later in life to pursue a field I have wanted to be part of. Until recently time and money have made attending school for this amount of time impossible. I am looking forward to putting my brains to work again and can't wait for August to get here!

Congrats RalphB222! Looking forward to August as well. I too am older (37) and have a feeling there may be a good mix of ages in our class. Here's to a great future!

RalphB222, I share you excitement!!! Congratulations to you, I am glad you are not afraid to step out in to another career field. I think this says a lot about a person and their determination in life. I am looking forward to meeting you and Winningjob in class. I was pleased to hear about you both going back to school as I though I might be the only one that has decided to do this as an adult student.

Again, congratulations :yeah:- see you in class.

Please to all pre nursing students in Las Vegas do your research with private schools. I had the worst experience at Apollo/Carrington College. Instructors that were very knowledgable and well respected left Apollo to teach elsewhere. For some reason they are under constant watch from the nursing accrediation. I followed the advice of a 5th semester student when I was in 3rd semester and transferred to a different program. So much happier...
