In Illinois, what's the difference between a LPN and APN?

APN is an advanced practice nurse. In Illinois, this is usually a master's prepared RN, approximately six years of education beyond high school. An LPN is a licensed practical nurse, usually a nurse with approximately one year of education beyond high school. Does that explain it well enough?
