Hello Nurs23Student,

We moved your topic to the Student NP forum for replies from NPs.

I'm happy to help you but agree with sirI that if you post the questions here, then you should get several answers. Thanks.

I am asking if you'd kindly complete a questionnaire about yourself/your practice as an advanced practice nurse! ❤️ Feel free to message me or e-mail your response to [email protected]

Thank you so much for your time and help! You are inspiring and helpful to my learning process!

Please begin with an introduction of yourself. What is your background on nursing? How long have you been practicing as a nurse and now advanced practice nurse? What is your specialty? What do you love most about your career? Then, I have more specific questions below.

1. What does a typical day of a nurse practitioner involve?

2. What aspects of your nursing career prepared you for this leadership role?

3. What does your collaborative agreement with your physician look like?

4. What have been the biggest challenges you have encountered while practicing as an advanced practice nurse?

5. Given your nursing background, do you continue to apply the same holistic and caring approach in your advanced practice career? How do you include family in your relationships with your patients? How else has your nursing background contributed to your approach to your practice?

6. How do you make a difference in your patient’s experience?

7. How much time are you allotted with each patient interaction? Given the amount of time you are allotted with each patient, how well do you get to know your patients? Do you know your patients beyond what you are treating them for?

8. Describe what a difficult day looks like?

9. What is one tool or resource you use the most in your practice?

10. What has been the most valuable learning experience in your practice?

Moved to nursing student assistance forum. I'll try to answer some of your questions. We prefer that you allow posters to post to your thread and I will remove your email as that leaves you open to much spam mail.

What is your background on nursing? How long have you been practicing as a nurse and now advanced practice nurse? What is your specialty? What do you love most about your career? Then, I have more specific questions below.

INTRO: I've been a nurse for 27 years and have been a CNS for 13 years. I practice in nephrology and my favorite part of my job is educating pts on their disease process.

1. What does a typical day of a nurse practitioner involve? This is going to vary tremendously. For me, I round on dialysis pts at various outpt dialysis units

2. What aspects of your nursing career prepared you for this leadership role? A lot of life experience - lol

3. What does your collaborative agreement with your physician look like? Its regulated by my state

4. What have been the biggest challenges you have encountered while practicing as an advanced practice nurse? End of life discussions when we as providers know that the end is near but pt/family are in denial.

5. Given your nursing background, do you continue to apply the same holistic and caring approach in your advanced practice career? Hmmm, I'm basically a fairly caring pt to begin with. How do you include family in your relationships with your patients? Families are included per pt wishes. How else has your nursing background contributed to your approach to your practice? My strong ED background allows me to have solid assessment skills

6. How do you make a difference in your patient’s experience? Keep them safe during a perilous journey

7. How much time are you allotted with each patient interaction? My time is what I need it to be. For instance today in a 10 hr day I saw 55 pts. Given the amount of time you are allotted with each patient, how well do you get to know your patients? I see my pts weekly so know them well. Do you know your patients beyond what you are treating them for? I know their comorbidities

8. Describe what a difficult day looks like? Multiple end of life discussions, multiple codes

9. What is one tool or resource you use the most in your practice? UpToDate

10. What has been the most valuable learning experience in your practice? Having pts acknowledge they understand my attempts at education

Thank you so much! I apologize for submitting to multiple forums. While I have had an account for some time, I am new to allnurses and was not sure where the correct place would be to post this request. Thank you for taking the time to complete my questionnaire. I very much appreciate it! I can go back and make sure all the rest are deleted too. Thank you again!
