The coding was done retrospectively from record review as far as I know, so it didn't really help us at the bedside on a prospective basis as a predictor tool.

It is used more for determining when to initiate drugs such as Xigris for sepsis. Xigris is a VERY expensive drug and is usually only indicated with a certain Apache score.
