Hello Nurse Beth,
I am trying to find a part-time job. I just interviewed for Science 37 that does clinical trials for Genentech etc. This job was found on indeed, but the payroll will be done by an agency (3rd party) called Care Team Solutions. The way it was presented to me was that I would be going to the patient's home to give the medication, draw labs and collect data.
I could start off with 1-2 patients and add more at a later time. I do have a full-time job at the moment. Do you know anyone with this experience? It sounds like more work than a typical part-time job would be? They have a start date for December, which I think is pretty fast. Is that normal? I eventually do want to leave my full-time job to find another career path. Bedside burnout is REAL!! I've been doing bedside for almost 7 years. But I also don't want to just jump into the unknown without doing some research, which is why I am on here now. Please I would love to hear more about Clinical research.
Thank you
Dear Clinical Research Job,
Actually, I have had experience with a clinical research job. I worked for a researcher who was conducting a clinical trial on the use of fentanyl patches for post-op pain.
The patients, who agreed to participate in the trial, stayed in a hotel after their surgeries. I was given a room adjacent to them. I took their vital signs and administered meds. Mostly I watched television.
It was very low stress and paid fairly well (hourly wage, no benefits). It was a nice contrast to my hospital job, but I would not have wanted it as a full-time job as it was not challenging and the work was episodic.
Hope my experience sheds some light and helps you decide.
Best wishes,
Nurse Beth
