Anyone work for Saint Elizabeth Health Care?

Hello there!

I was just wondering if anyone here works for Saint Elizabeth Health Care? I have an interview with them (for part time visiting RPN) and I would like as much info as I can get in case of a job offer. If you could give me an idea about pay rate as well I would appreciate it! THanks so much.

I don't know about their hourly rate, but I know they give you a $2000 sign-on bonus, as per their Job Bank ad states.

I don't know what they offer now but I checked out a job with them 3 years ago and they were offering $17/hr.

Yikes, I make more than that as a nursing student working as a PSW, lol.

Yeah, the PSWs I work with make $21.

I believe they start off at 23$+ for RPN's at St-Elizabeth health care. They are a non-profit organization funded and mediated by the government. This type of nursing has a high turnover for new employees because working on the road and in stranger's houses isn't for everybody. Many new grads do not feel comfortable at first due to lack of experience.

There is a process for clients to be accepted for home care. The physician who is taking care of the client must recommend home care and send an application to CCAC for approval. CCAC is a government ran entity which mediates the approval and denial of service for clients. After they approve the client for home care they assign them to a non-profit organization like St-Elizabeth health care which then assumes responsibility for the care of the patient. CCAC will then appoint a case manager to the client which will then be the middle man between the nursing staff and client. The amount of care depends initially on the recommended amount by the physician. The nurse who goes in for the initial visit will then go a full assessment and then update the case manager on the health of the client. In normal cases the patient will start getting better and the nurse will then contact the CCAC case manager to notify them on the reduction of treatments(ex wound care) When the client is well enough the nurse will fill out a discharge form to remove them from St-Elizabeth's services.

Depending on where you plan on working you may have to do a lot of driving. I know the nurses who work in the SDG and Prescott Russell area in Ontario do a lot of driving because it's so rural. If you are planning on working in a city then the driving time is reduced significantly.

The 2,000$ bonus is not given to you when you first start. The first 1000$ is given after the first 6 months and last 1000$ after a year if I recall.

is it based on signing a contract? What if you don't stay for the full year, and work elsewhere after 6 months?

I`m not sure that would have to be something you would have to ask them or an employee who works for St-Elizabeth. I used to work there previously but I did admin and coordination so i never had to deal with this issue. sorry

Thanks for all your replies everyone! I did have the interview and they start at 20/hr, you get benefits if you work atleast 22 hours/week. i was actually really getting excited about this position. It sounded like it would fit my needs well, BUT...It has now been about 9 days and NO word back AT ALL. I would have though Id either get a call saying I got it, a call asying I didnt , or atleast a latter saying sorry but they didnt hire me.....I would think as an agency/home care they would need lots of nurses on staff, so I guess the fact that I got the interview made me think I had a pretty good chance of getting hired. Im pretty bummed actually! What do you all think? DO you think that this long going by with no word means I didnt get the job?

My advise (based on reading/researching on "how to get a job", "how to land an interview" etc.) is to do a follow-up call within a week or week-and-a-half after the interview. If anything it may give you an opportunity to find out why you weren't the chosen candidate. Politeness and maturity is key in that conversation. Best of luck!!

Wow $20/hr back in 2010 !!! It's 2017 now and I just started working with them at year's end. They still pay $20/hr !!! So far I'm not happy with them. I have to work nights, 7hrs straight in homes with no breaks, trying to stay awake is IMPOSSIBLE. And that's all they'll give me
