Anyone waiting on Acceptance Letters?

Hello Future Nurses!!!

The program I am applying for starts on Jan 4, 2011. They are going to make thier decision on Friday of this week. I am beyond nervous!! I was accepted into an LVN program back home in California but my husband is Air Force and we recieved orders to Alaska before I could start the program. My husband laughs because he feels like I should not be worried since I have already made it into a program before (I wish it was that easy). GRR, the program only takes 10 students. I was told it is was a first come first serve basis but when I went in today, the admissions lady told me they will be reviewing the applicants today and will mail out letters next week, but I could call her on Friday. Do you think that means I got in? I mean... Why should I call her on friday? AHHHHH. IDK. Im stressing. I really want this ( dont we all?) well if there is anyone else waiting for answers please feel free to jump this post, I would like to read other peoples advice and/or waiting stories!!

Soon to be future:nurse:?

I'll be crossing my fingers for you! Best of luck! :D

This is something we all want so badly, that it's almost inevitable not to get our hopes up on it. I'm trying to stay at middle ground, just in case I don't get in! I won't know until a little after mid-December, which is driving me insane! My program requires 5 pre-reqs and in them, I'll have made 3 A's and 2 B's. I already know what my average is going to pretty much be at the end of the semester for these last 2 pre-reqs. We're based on a 4-point GPA system, so this is going to have my GPA right at a 3.68...I am stressed out about that more than anything else. I strived so hard to try to get an a in A&P, but, we have a two more test grades and a final, and I'd have to make 100% on all 3 of those to get an A...not going to put that kind of stress on myself.

My program accepts as low as a 3.0, so I'm still over the halfway range...still doesn't feel good enough! It all depends on how many clinical spots they have open! Some semesters they can only select 10, other times it could be 30...and they don't let us know the numbers, so I have no clue! I can only pray for the best and wait for my acceptance! :D

Good luck to all!

Thanks so much for responding! I will have my fingers crossed for you too.

My program just ask for a 2.0 in the seven pre-reqs which I have plus more and a CNA license, which I just got. I think they might pass me up since I just recieved it. I have 5 years experience as a CMA so I have healthcare experience, I just wish I could meet with someone. They dont do interviews because they dont want to be bias on who they pick. I had my husband call a few minutes ago to inquire about the class and the admin lady told him that there is a waitlist. She didnt tell me that when I went in this morning, so do you think that is a good sign? Maybe she just didnt want to hurt my feelings since she has seen/or heard from me q month since July? UGH IDK!!

You have a very good GPA, do you have healthcare experience? When would your program start?

That could be! Maybe when she took a look at your file she seen you are highly likely to get in. My best advice to give you is to keep your hopes up and think confident, but don't get overly excited about the thought of starting this coming January! It's great you've got in before, just keep those fingers crossed! That's what I'm trying to do, and I'm pretty sure I am still going to be pretty disappointed if I must wait longer, but it all happens for a reason! 5 years experience as a CMA is great! I suppose since they only accept 10 student per selection, that a lot of the probability depends on how many they are looking at for the program-entry for this Spring. I am willing to bet you're going to get in though! ;)

Thanks girl! I've worked hard for it. I used to make such bad grades in high school, but now that I've got my head on straight and am working towards my dream, I've never been more passionate and caring about anything else like I am with my nursing career.

I don't have any healthcare experience yet! I started to go for my CNA license first, but didn't want the pre-reqs I had taken previously while I was majoring in ECE to expire, when two of them went towards the LPN program as well. They just require 5 pre-reqs and a 230+ on the PSB exam. My program would start on January 9th! :D

230 on an entrance exam?!? Lucky! My program wanted a 609 in English/writing and a combined score of 609 in applied and computation math! I had to retake the applied section, they only gave 15 mins for 25 questions, I was on 14 when the buzzer went off :-(

What made you change your major? Oh my,your program starts 5 days after mine! I'm praying we both get in and then we can share notes on the first week(if time allows) where are you from?
