I'm not sure if you're still active in this site. I just joined this allnurses.com and I'm a disabled veteran. I would like to know how you fared with your schooling. I'm interested in utilizing Voc Rehab to get a Nurse Practioner degree. Could you give me some feedback? Thanks.

Hello there,
I was hoping on finding articles about Vocational Rehabilitation covering/extending the coverage the of Nurse practitioner program. I was approved for accelerated BSN program for students without nurse licenses. My Vocational rehabilitation Consular advised me the coverage will stop upon my graduation. is there a way I can use the remaining months for a master education. I will have about 14 months left. thank you in advance.

As it stands right now I'm going to be meeting with a person at the VA tomorrow, not my counselor, who's offered to give me some helpful advice on how to extend the 48 month period to incorporate the NP as well.I've done a ton of research and would be glad to help any fellow disabled veterans who are on the same journey. 99% of the battle to getting approved is going in with knowledge and plenty of ammunition to substantiate why you want to go into nursing and if it'll be a feasible career for you prior to showing up to your first Voc Rehab meeting. This is the only thread I could find in my search related to Voc Rehab and I think this could be a great way to post valuable info for others.

Hi! I currently was rated 90%. I am wanting to go to nursing school to complete either my ASN or BSN with the help of Voc rehab. Do you know if I have to already be registered and enrolled before speaking with them? I am wondering if they will even approve to pay for tuition for me. Does anyone know how to convince them? Help!

I used Voc Rehab for my undergraduate studies but had to pay for grad school. Now please remember this was 15 years ago since I graduated but they would only pay for an undergraduate. They did tell me they would not pay for anything more.

@IRISHLUCK Hi there! I hope you see this! 🙂 I know this thread is super old but I wanted to ask more questions about how you were able to get benefits to finish the FNP program? I got denied as the the counselor said that becoming a FNP will also aggravate my service connected disabilities. She told me that I would need to apply for nurse administrator or something along those lines even though that isn’t my passion. How can I get benefits to do FNP?
