They pay for a full ride and stipend. Tuition, books, computer, etc. and they pay you a stipend. The stipend varies depending on when you were in the military, post-9/11, etc.

Safety for Nurses and Nursing students
What state do you live in? Each state's laws concerning guns, knives, weapons in general, etc. can be very different from one to the next. My suggestion is to get professional instruction and training in whatever you decide will work best for you. For the people stating they were "unharmed" I would suggest learning more about PTSD, it's effects and the psychological issues that arise from incidents such as this. I guarantee they were not unharmed in any sense of the word.

UNLV SON Summer 2013
I'm taking my pre-reqs at CSN and the counselors there are useless for any info or help. Some of the general ed requirements online state Phil 102 is a pre-req but the BSN list does not have it listed. Is this class a requirement to get into the BSN program?

Midlife Career Change to Nursing - Advice, please
As a 39yo starting my pre-reqs I find this topic very interesting. The one difference I have is the V.A. is paying for my schooling so I won't take on that debt. Currently I'm interested in working in the ICU and possibly pursuing a NP in a few years. Do these comments reflect the same trends in those specialties or are they slanted more towards floor nursing? The reason I ask is most posts have stated floor nursing.

UNLV SON Summer 2013
Quick question. I know UNLV scrubs are red but do they require students to wear all white shoes? As a guy with big feet it's gonna be a bit of a chore to find. Sorry for the thread drift.

UNLV SON Summer 2013
Thank you. I'm just starting my pre-reqs but hope to bang them out ASAP. Getting my first year done at CSN and then transferring over to UNLV. Nice to know what my "odds" are.

UNLV SON Summer 2013
Does anyone know how many applicants on average the SON gets each semester? I believe they accept 48 but out of how many?

Why not go for your BSN since you've already qualified for Chapter 31? Get it done now while the VA is covering your tuition, books, stipend, etc. Just a thought...

Anyone using VA VOC Rehab...
I've been accepted into Voc Rehab using the Chapter 31 benefits and have been approved to pursue a BSN along with my NP if I can get it knocked out in the standard 48 month window, that's the tricky part. As it stands right now I'm going to be meeting with a person at the VA tomorrow, not my counselor, who's offered to give me some helpful advice on how to extend the 48 month period to incorporate the NP as well. I've done a ton of research and would be glad to help any fellow disabled veterans who are on the same journey. 99% of the battle to getting approved is going in with knowledge and plenty of ammunition to substantiate why you want to go into nursing and if it'll be a feasible career for you prior to showing up to your first Voc Rehab meeting. This is the only thread I could find in my search related to Voc Rehab and I think this could be a great way to post valuable info for others.
