Anyone trying to get in Fall RN program at BCTC

U.S.A. Kentucky

Hey, just wondering if anyone else is trying to get in at BCTC in Lexington? I applied and am in the waiting game wanted to see if anyone wants to wait with me????? I am about to go nuts I can't stand this not knowing!!!

Who knows when they'll make the decision... I've applied to several schools (EKU, MSU, Lees College, K-State and UK), and I'm dying to know something from all of them... I really like BCTC and hope to complete my associates here though.

When I spoke to Nathan, he said they had several GPA recalcs to do. I qualify according to the set guidelines, and I'll be happy to just see that reflected on my file. When they exclude my work at MSU 10 years ago, I'll have a 3.75 GPA with 25 credits and a 92 percentile rank in NLN--I think my odds are fairly decent.

According to posts from previous years, most people knew by the last week in March. That's when I am anticipating a decision.

GOOD-LUCK, I hope you receive your acceptance letter soon:yelclap:

Good luck to everyone! I turned my application in sometime in early January. Although I know we aren't scheduled to hear anything until the end of this week or the first of next, I have been checking my mybin since last week. My husband thinks I'm worrying over nothing, but I am really anxious.

I totally understand and can relate. Don't feel bad, this is huge for all of us who have worked hard to reach our goal and fulfill our dream. Where did you hear that we are supposed to hear something this week or next? I am still waiting on my GPA recalculation and that worries me.:uhoh21: Nearly a decade ago, I attempted to obtain a degree but was in a toxic marriage and to say I was unsuccessful would be an extreme understatement. Since then I have been went back to school and earned 24 credit hours at BCTC with a 3.75 GPA and have a phenomenal NLN score. Without the recalculation my GPA is barely enough to meet the bare minimum:cry:. I was told due to the volume of applications submitted in Feb, GPA recalculations were taking longer to process and mine probably wouldn't be processed until this Friday. UGGH this makes me nauseous... :sniff:

:eek:SORRY!!... I meant the end of this MONTH or the first of next... I really didn't mean to get anyone's hopes up. :crying2:

I am in a similar boat with the GPA recalc thing. I attempted college ten years ago as well, and with that GPA I would have a horrible GPA. I currently have a 3.643 with 28 credit hours at BCTC and scored 94 percentile on the NLN. My gpa recalc has already been approved though. I want to think I have a great chance of getting into the program, but it seems like most of the people I talk to qualify for rolling admissions. I just applied at Morehead State because it's closer to home. So, if I hear good news from them, I don't plan to go to BCTC. Either way, fingers are crossed...

It sounds like you have an excellent chance for admissions into the program... keep in touch!

Thanks (and the same to you as well=)! Our chances seem about the same, your GPA is close to mine and we both ranked above the 90th percentile on the NLN (which IS phenomenal:specs:)--plus we both have more than the minimum credits going in.

Don't worry too much about how many qualify for rolling admissions. That only means they have earned 12 credits coming in with a 3.0 GPA and 70th percentile rank on the NLN or 24 ACT composite. Our scores, GPA and # of completed hours place us well above the minimum requirements and those who barely qualify. The way I see it, with 90 slots :nurse:, there is room for 89 other applicants to be more qualified than I. LOL

I love your optimism! I will have to try to look at it the same way you are looking at it. Good luck, and let me know how it goes for you!!

Has anyone heard anything yet? Do you think we would find out first by going to "MY Bin" to look or through a letter?

my selective admissions folder was just updated yesterday with my GPA recalculation. I receive an email whenever they add or change anything to my file, but I don't know about the decision. I read in another thread where someone saw they got in through there my bin but had to wait for their letter... It can't hurt to check daily, right?

The decision should post to mybin first, then you'll receive the letter. That was my understanding anyways.

The suspense is killing me, but icantw8, if you saw where someone said they were accepted that means they're beginning to post the decisions, and that's good. I'm really hoping to know something by the weekend.

I'm not sure they were talking about this year's program though, as I have read most of the threads concerning the program at bctc. I do know that my application was submitted the 6th or 7th of FEB (can't remember which for sure), and my application is complete including GPA recalculation as of Monday... That means they are close to having everyone processed if they haven't already, and it shouldn't be long before we hear! I swear this has been the longest, most trying month-and-a-half of my life!!!

Oh I hear ya!! I feel like this whole week has just drug on....I know the answer is coming soon, which I think is what makes this feeling even more unbearable! I just wish they'd post it already! It's emotional waffle time! LOL

Yeah, I feel confident we'll know something by the end of next week!
