Anyone traveled throught JFK NY with dogs???

Published

Hiya,

I am wondering if anyone here has ever traveled through JFK with pets? When we fly to usa we are taking our 2 little Yorkies with us on the flight they are booked on with us in the cabin on our Air United flight.

But I have no idea the proceedure once we land, usually we get off the plane, que in immigration then go get our suitcases and out thro customs. But what happens when you get off the plane with dogs?

Any guidance is much appreciated :wink2:

Then bpth of you are sitting in two different cabins? They usually permit only one pet per cabin.

Nothing happens, you need to have the certificate of health from the vet, and that needs to be done within ten days of travel, that is it.

suzanne, what about cats? my wife and i are planning to go back home next year and she wants to bring her tabby cat with us here in the US :banghead:

Hi Suzanne,

United allow 2 dogs per cabin so me and my husband are taking a dog each.

So nothing happens when we land we dont go to an animal control center or anything? We just que as usual at immigration then go thro to get bags and out? Who checks the vets certificate?

United has changed their rules then from when I used to travel with them.

When you go thru customs, they will check the documents. As long as the shots are up to date, there is no issue. They will be stricter at the United counter before you board..............

Just need shots up to date and verification of health from the vet, not sure if the Philippine govet has any requirements. In Thailand, the pet also has to go to the airport a day or two before the flight and be checked by the vet there.

Otherwise, no problems. just make sure that the cat goes in the plane with you and not underneath.
