Anyone take NCLEX for licensure in CA on March 21?

Published

Ugh. I am very frustrated California doesn't participate in "quick results?" If anyone took the NCLEX on this day, are your names up on the BON website? I am thinking it is too early, but I am making myself sick here. I wish there was more I can do.

I know pretty much everyone walks out of the test feeling sick and like a failure. I felt alright walking out, but as the day went on, I felt worse. My test stopped at 75 questions. Towards the end, I was consistently getting SATA. I am horrible at those questions. One question was actually a pharm. and SATA all in one about how oral hypoglycemics work on the body. I felt myself guessing towards the end of the test because of the SATA and pharm. questions. Pharm. is not my strong subject either. At the end, I felt I should have studied more content. I took Kaplan and definitely feel I know how to answer the difficult questions. Let's face it...you still have to somewhat know the content before you answer the question correctly. Sometimes you can guess, other times you cannot.

I cannot stop thinking about this test. I have always been one who has been extremely hard on myself. An extreme perfectionist. I was second in my graduating class and graduated with a 3.98 in nursing school. I know even straight A students fail the NCLEX just by reading these forums, but I still don't feel right about this. Worse thing about this...so far everyone in my class has passed. One of my best friends in class passed even though he only practiced answering 300 questions. He did no other studying. It makes me sick. I guess I will just have to wait and see though. Possibly a few weeks with California. I am living in Iowa right now, so I will have to wait a few extra days for snail mail.

Sorry for the rant. This has been eating at me for days now.

Heya, well..youve just described the last 3 months of my life..

I too live in california, i first tested on jan 25..woke up everyday at 0400 to check the website...FOR 3 WEEKS !!!, i called them at least 12 times..(dont bother calling...they could reallu care less and are quite rude...)

I kept onto hope that i passed cause i had heard stories of my fellow classmtes seeing their name on the site at 3 days, and also at 21 days..soooo i kept hope alive, until i got the fail letter.

I tested again last week, march 17th with 3 other classmates...

and I again am waking up at 0400 to check the site, even though i am a pro at this.

let me tell it to you straight,

#1. avg wait id 3-10 days---thats business days. earliet is 3 days most is 10

The CA brn updates tues-sat, (they are ALWAYS a day behin) soo sat is for frid, and since they didnt work on sunday, tues is their mon

so you count,

after 10 days, 99.9% you failed (UNLESS they dont have your paperwork)..if you call , ask them if your file is complete, if it is..YES 10 days MAX, after that..

im on day 6 (business days). but no one else has gotten results either, sooo i still ahve a little hope left...this friday, I will have none, and will start to re-study yet again

I am beyond "worrying myself sick", the first time i actually did get sick, (after 3 weeks) but now..im in a better place.

I too am also mad about CA is not a quick result state, they "say" because we ahve alot of test takers in CA, personally that is nonsense..New York is a big state and they offer it there as well as other big states..sooooo

#2 i would say you most likely passed, i have never emt anyone who has failed at 75 questions, although there are people in here that have, if you look at the "total" picture, from my experience and what i see in here 9which i am reading alot in here" i would say you have at least a 90% chance---seriously

#3, this past weekend was easter, soooo knowing CA and govnt jobs they had either, friday off, today off or both..which will somehow modify my point #1 (if 10 business days..) so mabye add a day or two to that figure....

I wish the best for you.

Well, I most definitely wish you the best too. The waiting is the hardest part. All my classmates applied to states that participate in quick results. I think I would take this a lot better if I could know how I did now so I could have a few days to be depressed and grieve and then get over it. I feel like I am already in the grieving process and I haven't even found out my results, haha. I am a negative person to begin with (perfectionism is not a fun thing at all), so this is really tough on me. Thanks for all the information. I will definitely keep it in mind. I hope I didn't fail at 75. I know it is pretty rare. I took a Kaplan course and did all the QTs. According to my last QT score, I was ready to take the exam. After the NCLEX, I told myself I either did really well or really bad. It would be embarrassing for me to fail at 75 questions. If that is the case, I must have done something VERY wrong. How you tried a review course? And where from California will you practice? Let us know what happens! Let's keep our fingers crossed.

You lmpw I did do a review course, i had an option for either Kaplan, or sally lingerquist ?? in san francisco..Most of muy class went to frisco sooo like a little follower i went with them.,..i got nothing out of it and i left early, i should have went to kaplan...

I live in visalia, so i test in fresno, ca

CA actually permits a new grad to test before they have received their transcripts or have a completed file, as long as their name is on the list of students expected to pass sent in by the CA school to the BRN.

This is one reason why they will never participate in early results, they cannot notify you of anything until your file is complete. Files are also reviewed by a human when they are complete.

Best of luck on your results.
