Anyone

I'm studying to be a nurse who recently in June got into an LPN program (I want my BSN so I can work in the Navy, eventually get my doctorite to teach). However, I'm more of a language person. I felt very compelled that it's my destiny to be a nurse (I never liked the doctor- it's like you come in with one problem and the next thing you leave with another), and I know I have a lot to overcome. Is there anyone like me who has struggled to become a nurse, who wasn't a science person, but is now a nurse? Thank you!

Science was the worse for me, but I really buckled down and studied my buns off. I still do not remember half of what I learned, but, we do what we have to do. If your anatomy class has a lab portion, it may be helpful, especially if they have you naming anatomical positions and parts. That is how I got Bs in anatomy...I used to get high 90's there, and get high 70's in the lecture which is more physiology. Good luck!

Check at the library, I found some old memorization technique videos very very helpful in school. There are ways to learn that are not taught in school. Our minds remember pictures alot longer than they will remember what is presented in words for example. If science is not your thing, these techniques will really help you succeed. I used to draw cartoons with ribosome man and catalyst bar for singles. The dumber the picture the better. You need to find an analogy for the science terms. It may seem crazy but it got me on the deans list despite parenting two loveable but messy fridge raiding little boys. Good luck. Our only hurdles are the ones we place in front of ourselves.
