Anyone switching from Reserves to Active Army?

Is there anyone out there that joined the STRAP or reserves and at the end of their graduation switched to Active? If so, what process did you have to go through and what was the time it took from submission to acceptance? And if you did STRAP did you have to give your STRAP money back? I never wanted to be in the Reserves but was told it was the quickest way to join since they had closed enlistment for Active Army nurses. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Its probably listed on your contract... X amount of days/years for every Y days/years using STRAP...

Going reserves to active is not always quicker and can be frustrating where the incentives and options and timeline might overall be better by waiting it out and going straight to active.

I don't have any really helpful advice except when you do get to your first duty station I'd recommend not talking immediately about your desire to swap out as it could come off in a negative fashion to your station commander.

You need to look up the regs on the STRAP program it will have in it what your comments are. The last time I reviewed it was 2:1 if you stayed reserves and 1:1 if you went active. But things do change because the original STRAP program did not have an AD option that is way you need to review your contract and the regs. As far as going active you will have to go thru most if not all of the boarding process again. You might also not be eligible for some of the bonuses. When I switched from reserves to active I was only eligible for student loan repayment.

You can also look into being an active reservist.

There are very limited positions for nurse corp officers.
