Anyone starting DUKE ABSN program this Fall 2008?

Published

I just got accepted into the ABSN program at Duke. Still waiting for UNC to reply. I am however going to pay the deposit, and probably count it as a loss if UNC ever replies me.

Just a couple of questions, for those who have taken loan to cover school expenses, how did you do your personal expenses like bils, mortgage, child care etc?

I am just wondering if I will get loan to cover this expense. I hope to fill FAFSA, but am hearing now that it will not even cover all the money for school.

I am also looking at some scholarships already to help augment the deficits.

Please write in here if you will be going to Duke this fall.

Hi Pebble-

I am scheduled to interview at Duke for the Fall 08 ABSN program tomorrow...did you interview on the 11th? Congrats on your acceptance! Do you have any advice about the interview process? Hopefully I will hear as quickly as you did - maybe we will be in school together!

I wish you luck for tomorrow. Yes I interviewd on the 11th- it was wonderful- laid back and very informal. You will like it trust me, just be yourself and enjoy it all.

Let me know how it went- deep breathe.

Hey, there!

Just today I received a package from Duke asking me to interview. I didn't get my application packet in until right at the deadline, so I'm assuming that's why I'm just now getting it? The only interview date left is February 8th, so I'm thinking of flying out there from San Francisco. My question is - do you think that it's less likely that I'll get an acceptance since I'll be the last to interview? I really don't have very much money right now, so flying out there isn't the best thing financially, however, I feel that I will be a much better interview in person than on the phone. I'm just wondering what you guys think of this?

Thanks much, and hope to start with you in the fall! Oh, do you have any stats on how many people apply, how many are interviewed, and how many are accepted?

Take care,

Kens

I interviewed on the 25th. I don't have a very good idea about whether the interview day has any affect on your chances for acceptance. What I can tell you are the stats for this year's program - approximately 200 applications were received, about 3/4 of those were asked for an interview, and the class size will be 72. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for your response! Well, I'm flying out there on the 7th. Good luck everyone! :)
