Anyone Starting At UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing?

Hello everyone.

I just got a letter saying that the Fall 09 class for UPMC Shadyside is full, but that I would be admitted (or considered for admission) for the Spring '10' class. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

already got in for fall '09 e/w. anyone know how long clearances take to go through at childline and the background check?

The PA is instant if you do it online, FBI took about a week, Childline took about 2 weeks. Congrats!

We should make a new thread for Shadyside 09, this thread is sooooooooo ******* long.

Hi All....Is anyone going to start the evening/weekend program? I am getting very anxious about starting. (could hardly wait) Does anyone know when we will know what books we will be using? Also, do we wear uniforms the first year (even though we don't have clinicals)

Okay, it's been 10 days. And while I realize Natalie may have meant 10 business days, I'm starting to get paranoid that my application got lost or something. Is there anyone left who still hasn't heard anything?

hey so i got in for full time fall session at shadyside, im wondering if anyone has any tips or advice to for me to prepare for the 2 year course? thanks!

As for your question ... I did receive a letter of intent for March. I did not get into the fall. It had a from included that needed to be returned by August 15th I think it was. Had to sign the form and return it to be considered on the priority list. If your application packet was not complete you may not have gotten a letter. The letter I received basically said .. this letter confirms your application packet is complete, however the fall class has been filled... if you want your application to be reviewed for the march program please fill out the enclosed form ... blah blah blah ...

Hope something gets worked out for you soon ...

May want to call Natalie to confirm whether your packet was complete.

Feel free to PM me again if you wish .. hopefully I will have my 15 post soon ... tempted to just post bump 10 or so more times.

Thank you for your reply, I didn't know about the 15 post rule LOL.

I will be so livid if my application turns out to be incomplete. I know I had everything sent in and it should've arrived a few days before the deadline (mail usually takes 1 day to and from Pittsburgh from where I live.) I also would've never sent it that late if it weren't for their rule about not sending the other stuff until you get your PSB results. Ahh I'm so annoyed by this.

I guess I will e-mail Natalie. Maybe we will be classmates in March :wink2:

Fingers crossed will pray for you ... Hopefully we will be able to both get in come March. Would be nice to start with a friendly face perhaps all ready having a study partner.

Well, I finally found out what happened - they didn't get my high school transcript. Which makes me super angry because I know without a shadow of a doubt in my mind that I requested it. I know I did. I remember the conversation with the lady at the high school because I was reading to her parts of the transcript request form. And I just called to request it again and she told me it was sent 6/04/09 (right before the deadline, but it should've taken a day a the most to get there.) It also makes me angry because my high school transcript probably doesn't mean much... I have college experience. :angryfire

The good news, if you can say that I guess, is that if I get it sent in before they start the testing for spring admissions, I will still be on the priority list.

I have to be approaching 15 post soon .. so ..... when I do I will send you my regular email address. Then we can coordinate our future at Shadside :icon_roll
