Anyone regret getting those student loans?

I also am a mom of three, struggling to make it thru school. I am getting financial aid, but since I don't work FT, I am getting some loan money to help out with expenses. Every semester though, I cringe at the thought of those loans racking up. But I know it's an evil necessity if I ever want to get thru school. Does anyone wish they hadn't gotten that "extra" money because they are so boggled down with loans now? I just don't know of any other way.

Fortunately for me, I never had to obtain a student loan for college since I use to be married to money. It was always cash and go. How I long for those days...not the man, mind you, but the cash was fun! :chuckle

When I return to college soon, I will definitely need to apply for grants, loans, etc. since I'm not married to money, nor do I have any left over as I have exhausted my funds from being off work for a few years to deal with my shoulder injury and depression. (first the injury...then came the depression). One of my kids is in college now, and she has made it to her junior year on grants and loans, so I hear her complaining a lot about having to pay all that back one day. Her father could help her out with his $$$, but he isn't sane enough to understand that concept.

Oh my G**. Just this week I was told my full scholarship was no longer in effect and I was 100% responsible because I met my hours cap as well. (I went to school for 2 1/2 years 10 years ago and they count that). I only got 30 hours out of a four year degree paid for with this scholarship and I'm a 4.0 honors student!!! I feel your pain!

Now I'm scrambling for fin. aid and it will be loans this coming year. No choice. The next year, my last, hopefully I will get the service cancellable loan through the hospital I want to work at.

Forevermomof5- I think that if you need the money and the hospital offering it is one you would be okay working at anyway, you should most DEFINATELY take it. I know I will.

Ageless - AMEN! As a divorced, single mother, I'm right there with you. I will be dependant on NO ONE but myself from now on and my kids won't have to worry either.
