I received the award, so can answer any questions you have. You can email me: [email protected].
To answer the questions you did have, they base their awards off of debt/income ratio. There are many applicants and few awards, so I guess they go by highest need? Also, you have to work at an approved facility. Their website lists what type of facilities are approved. Funds are automatically deposited into my account each month. Every 6 months, you have to have HR/mgmt fill out an employee verification from- which is easy to do. Let me know if you have other questions.
Its called a "nursing education loan repayment program" rather than a scholarship, but as far as I know, it is awarded after graduation. That is because it is a program that awards nurses working FT at an approved facility. On their website (google HRSA NELRP), it has list of different types of approved facilities the nurse must work at. I applied after I had already started working FT. Hope that helps!
I finally figured it out :)
I had found the HRSA site a couple months ago when someone mentioned it on the nurse practitioner page on AN. I looked through the site at the various underserved areas and found a good amount in my area, but noticed that some said "NHSC loan", while others were "NHSC scholar" sites, which lead me to believe that they must have a scholarship program also. And indeed they do.

And the deadline is June 9th so I haven't missed it!

Hello Allnurses,
I was researching and came across the HRSA Nurse Loan Forgiveness Scholarship and I wanted to hear from those that received the scholarship/ those that applied and were denied, what reason they gave. I've racked up a huge amount of student loans and want to get the amount down to a reasonably payoff amount. Online I read that they send payments through ETF and check periodically to make sure that you r still working and actually repaying the loans. Any information would help.
Thanks in advance :)
