Hi,
I am currently attending UNF. I'm in 4th semester and graduate in May. I have had mostly good experiences so far. I don't have anything different to compare to, but I have been happy with the program overall. My observations are:
1. The NCLEX pass rate since January 2007 was 93.68 (4th in FL). For reference, the state pass rate was 83.74 and the national pass rate was 86.08. Only 2 students failed. I do feel like I am being well prepared for NCLEX.
2. My clinical experiences have been good for the most part. I have been to Brooks, Memorial, Baptist, and Shands, and have had many experiences to see the various community resources. Some experiences are better than others, but I haven't had any horribly negative experiences.
3. The class schedule isn't always the best (i.e., I have always had classes on Fridays, so no long weekends!). I have a kid, my husband is in the Navy, and I have no family support, so I have had to be creative with child care (more of a personal problem than a problem with the school).
4. The instructors are nice/helpful for the most part.
5. Besides classes and clinicals, you are assigned to X number of hours in a community "homebase". Basically, it's like volunteering. I don't like my homebase, but other people have some good homebases.
6. You have to be flexible. Things change, but the faculty always strive to work it out to the students' benefit.
I hope that helps you. It is definately worth a look. The campus is nice and I feel comfortable. By the way, I am 33, so don't know much about the social life at UNF (i.e. greek life, athletics, etc) if you're interested in that.
Feel free to email me if you have any more questions.

Hi TangoLima! I am going to attend UNF's Nursing Program this fall and was wondering if you could provide me some insight. Which part of Jax was your homebase centered on? And I heard that during your fifth semester, you're allowed to pick any hospital that you wanna do your clinical at, is this true? Thank you so much for your help! Hope to hear from you soon! :wink2:

Is anyone presently going to UNF? If so how do you like it? Are the clinical sites great for teaching? How do you feel the program is preparing you?
