I was pregnant during clinicals. Now I'm graduated and in the real world, so obviously I still passed. I did my entire third semester of clinicals pregnant (I got pg in mid July, clinicals started first of september and went thru 2nd week of december) and then in 4th semester, i was due april 11th, with april 13th being the very last clinical I had to go to.
As for past the 20 week mark-
It really wasn't too bad until the very very end. Up til then, the only things that bothered me were tiredness-I'd come home and take a nap every day and just being hungry all the time. Physically-get some help for the difficult moving and lifting. I was never in a position where I was risking myself. I never used my pg as an excuse not to do things, and therefore, people were willing to help me.
At the very end I was just tired all the time.My back was sore. my feet hurt. I was due april 11th,but i needed to make it thru april 13th. (clinicals were apr 12th and 13th). the week before, when i was 39 weeks pg I was good (but tired). I did it all. the 12th I was a bit slower...I had to stop while walking down the hall. I was 1 day past my due date at this point. I finished the day. Went home and was just feeling horrid and crampy/cranky, etc. Thought I'd for sure pushed myself too much at clinical.
Nope. I was in labor and didn't know it!
So yeah, I went to clinical that day, left there at 1:30pm and had a baby at 4am. I called my clinical instructor at our clinical site at 6am and was like "oh, I won't be there today. I just had a baby 2 hours ago"
So. hope that kind of answer is what you were looking for!
I'm pregnant now (14 1/2 weeks) and did clinicals over the summer. By the time my 7th and 8th month come around I'll be back in med-surg clinicals. Before that is Community Health so I'm not so worried about those clinicals.
I share you're conserns. I already baught the maternity belt to hold up the load when it comes time. And I'll expect I'll need to bring some tylenol to clinicals.
One of the major concerns I have is that the med/surg I'm going to do is Oncology and I worry about all the radiation. But I'll have to talk to my instructor and see what she'll let me do. I'm willing to work so I'm hoping she see's that
I am 19 weeks today. I am very anxious about starting my sr. sem. on Aug 22. b/c no one at my school know that I am pregnant. I am wondering what my instructors will say. We had pregnat students in the second sem. and the school worked with them plus I will deliver while on x-mas break. I am thinking about asking my ob to induce me so there won't be too may suprises. Anyone have any tips to make this thing easier. Plus I will be working as a tech 16 hours a week.
This sem. I am taking OB,Peds, and Chem.
I'm another one that's pregnant in nursing school. Seems like there is a lot of us! I've been doing some searches on this board and have found numerous threads where people discuss how it is very possible to be pregnant and complete nursing school. They just say be prepared to work very hard. Unfortunately, my child is due 3 weeks before graduation. At this point in time, I plan on staying in school and graduating with my class. Should I at any point think I'm jeopardizing my pregnancy, I will take a break from nursing school. You've got to do what you've got to do. Good luck to you. We're all in this together. :)

I'm glad to see that there are others here with me! :) It'll be a tough semester, since I don't know what to expect in school in the first place, much less being pg! But I know I can do it. I was a resturant manager for a busy corporate resturant while pg w/my first ones, so the physical part won't be a hinderence.
My instructors didn't seem to thrilled about me being pg. They said that if I get put on bed rest for 3 weeks (for example) there's no way that I can make that up, and will have to drop out. UGH! But with both my boys I had healthy full term pgcies and expect the same this time! I'm due 12/19 and finals are the week before.
Let's all keep in touch!!!
:) Janet

I start clinicals in about three weeks, and am 20 weeks pregnant right now. Is anyone else pregnant, or have gone through clinicals while being pregnant? I know clinicals are hard to begin with, but am I going to push myself too far? I'm due right after finals, so I won't miss any school. How hard will the physical part be on me? TIA!
