I just got accepted to the fall 2008 lpn program for nccc and was wondering if anyone had any information on the school. Also I am deperately looking for someone who is either in the lpn or rn program to live with in that area. Thanks in advance for any reply.

Thank you for the info. Do you know how long it normally takes to get into LPN/RN programs? What is the typical waiting period if any?

That I am not sure of, but the admission advisor would know. When you call to make an appointment, make sure that you speak with Mr. Schultz, he is the NS advisor there. I have spoken with him on a few occassions and he has been very helpful.

Hi,

like i mentioned I already got accepted to the lpn program. Call and ask if the program has a waiting list for next semester. Also they have two lpn programs so be sure to specify which one. One program will only give you 1 semester of work, while another give you two semesters towards thier RN.

I'm currently in the RN program at NCCC, but have decided to switch to the LPN and work while I attend school for something else. It's a good program..however, it's a bit disorganized at times (to put it nicely). Personally I think they are accepting waaaay to many students (250 or more at a time when you factor in re-admits, where other schools accept approx 20-40) and cannot accommodate them all so they do serious "weeding out". Many of the instructors are good and happy to help and answer questions...a few of the others, well, don't waste your time. I'm sure this is the case for most schools though.

Hi, lkgrant! How long did you have to wait until you got into the LPN program? School told me they had waitlist for LPN/RN. My advisor meeting isn't until the 16th, so just wondering on your waiting period.

WOW! I just had to respond to this! Things have not changed in the last 10 years!! My husband attended the NCCC RN program in the mid-1990's. Back then they also accepted HUGE numbers of students into the program. (We joked that if you had a heartbeat you would get into the NCCC RN program.) And then they did serious weeding out by failing MANY of the students. This is so wrong. Accepting people into a program who never had the ability to succeed in the first place, and then failing them. It is messing with people's lives! It is unethical in my opinion.

I got my associate degree from GCC (Genesee Community College) in Batavia, NY. They had much higher standards and requirements for getting into the RN program. (At least back then in the late 1980's.) We only had a handful of people fail out. Most people made it through.

Boils down to greed in my opinion, they got their tuition out of them (twice if they repeat) so who cares. :rolleyes:

i had to reply too... i am in the RN program this fall and am seriously scared and wondering what one has to do (or not do) to get weeded out. i know some people are not cut out for this but i have also heard from other students who are ahead of me... not to get on the bad side of an instructor. don't question, don't be opinionated just be one of the head of cattle and keep quiet and do what you are told... this seems to be the opposite of 'the college experience' mentality.
