What's the scoop on hospitals there? How about the scenery??

Hi! I have lived in St. George for 15 years. There is only one hospital, DRMC (it is an IHC hospital). We are in great need of nurses, but depending on what pay you are used to, we don't pay all that well. Starting is $18.50, though I am sure you could negotiate a better wage.

The scenery is awesome, no other like it. The weather is great if you don't like the cold. Though the summers do get a bit hot.

Let me know if you have any other questions I can help you with.

Thanks for the info. Sounds great....I love living in beautiful scenic surroundings....

do you have some sort of nursing certification from utah?

No, no degree from Utah. Currently licensed in Texas and planning a move to St. George area or Las Vegas area. St. George is in the midst of all that natural beauty. I love hiking .

The IHC hospital.....what does that stand for?

I received a private message that non Mormons are discriminated against in Utah.........in the hospitals. That never occurred to me.

Anyone experience discrimination?

I am not LDS (Mormon) and I am an RN in the hospital in St. George. The hospital does not discriminate against non-mormons. However, mormons can tend to make you feel like an outsider. That goes for everywhere in St. George.

Specializes in Med/surg.

Passingthru, I also hold a TX nursing license and want to work part of the year in UT and part in TX. Did you have to apply for a new license? If not, how does the compact work?
