Anyone with MSN or Faststaff?

wishy wishy (New) New

I still haven't decided on a travel company to work with. I am new to this and would appreciate any advice. PPR sounds good but are only offering $24/hr for the ER. Someone suggested faststaff or MSN but I haven't heard enough about them.

Thanks

Hello, well as much as I know is probably not enough, but there is something you can do. Are you stuck on travel? Why arent you looking for a home? Find a recruiter.

Before I look for a recruiter I would like to hear others' thoughts about different agencies because a recruiter is just going to size up his/her company and not give you any cons or problems people have had.

I work in Philadelphia as a staff nurse. I'm seriously thinking about doing travel nursing and have heard good things about IntelliStaff and Progressive Staffing. Check them out, and good luck to you :)

Well to be frank the recruiter has more than one company that they work for and they only get paid if you get placed. The recruiter only goes after the postions he has not just to have nurses that are sitting on the sidelines. The ability for a recruiter to work for you instead of you have to interview at ten different places is what you want. You should never have to pay to get a job, Your experience should get you in the position. I am a recruiter and that is why I stick to the positive of using one you also have agencies that you can go to for travel nursing. Just do whatever is best for you and your time schedule. RECRUITERS WORK FOR THEIR MONEY JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

I am on an assignment in south Jersey where most of my coworkers are from fast staff. I am with another agency, whom I will not mention, and the faststaff nurses are making more then I am and from all that I have heard from them they are very pleased with fast staff and most if not all of them have been traveling with them for at least a year and some of them as many as 3-5 years with fast staff and have nothing but good things to say about the agency.

Yeah I work STAFF at a local South Jersey (wonders if you work with me lol) and we use Faststaff. Thing I don't like about it, is their days are contracted 4 days a week and they CAN"T be cancelled. So yesterday they called me off for my 12 hr. shift cause they use so many freakin travel nurses!!! The Supervisor said to me that they just had a meeting and they didn't have to wait til after you work your 3 shifts a week to cancel you. They NOW can do it any day they want. And if you don't have any vacation time or personal time to make up for they can just cancel you WITHOUT PAY!! Now I'm truly annoyed about this. It shows me that being staff means nothing. You have no security with your work at all. I need my 4 12 hr. shifts and NOW my paycheck will be short one day.......that makes a differance of hundreds of dolloars!! Grrrrrrrr!!

hello wishy , travel nursing is great i have been sort of doing it but i have small children. but i currently work for faststaff and they are a good company to work for they give 3000 referrall bonus for each rn you refer and also they give you completion bonus for every assignment you take up to 10,000 a year the usual annual income for year is 132, 000. i think that is full time and based on the number of hours you work and the lenght of your assingments . they give you travel gas housing and there base pay for med/surg is 37.00 and that can increase depending on you situation you don'y gave to take the gas or housing and other incentatives to increase your pay. send me a reply if you want to split the referal bonus signed . on my way to cali. p.s msn is a good company they ususally have local contracts as well i have signed up with them when i was a lpn but i never worked for them .but thinking about reactivating my application.where do you live state only please. bye good luck don't take any thiong less than 35 as rn agency 40-50 er/:nurse::nurse: icu

:icon_rollhi! i have worked with msn and ppr. i am currently investigating fast staff. msn was who i worked with before i started traveling, so i did per-dium for them. they paid well for their shifts, but we were the first ones cancelled or sent home early. that feels great at the time, but if you are counting on the income, it isn't so great! they couldn't find me anything that i was interested in when i started traveling. ppr is who i have traveled with for the last two assignments, and i have been very pleased. the agent that i have is very pleasant, and accomidating. the only trouble that i have had with them involved there housing department, so when i let me agent know she promised she would handle the housing for me. since that, there haven't been any problems. your agent makes the difference, i am beginning to learn.

hope that helps and answers your questions.

I met a lot of fastaff travelers on my assignments. I've heard a lot of great things. The pay is great. The housing is great. Assignments are great sometimes (depends on the facility's environment/ up to date equipment/ etc) but it's temporary 4-8-13 week. OnAssignment is another one. Just call them up and ask for what they do for their nurses. You'll get a package in the mail that explains everything. Good luck.

Any current Faststaff RN's out there and care to comment on the current on goings?

I honestly do not have anything good to say about MSN......

I'm with Intelistaff/MSN & I've been very happy with them. I worked with other agencies who I felt were shady. AMN was good but I like MSN much better. You can't judge them on the assignment, they have no clue how the hospital is run. My pay is ok, not great but it's livable. Housing is AWESOME! had a problem with my paycheck that has already been fixed. Didn't even take 4 days. My recruiter has been awesome, pm me & I'll tell you her name. She calls at least every week (or emails) to check on me. She also knows I prefer emails & tries me there first if it's not time sensitive. Good luck I hope this helps.

My wife and I were talking to faststaff for the past month getting all the paperwork submitted, but after getting all of the hoops jumped through they tell us there are NO JOBS and we're on a hotlist for california. This was a bit aggrevating as we have sold her car and our house is in boxes. I'm keeping my name in the hat though in case theres a good strike at some point we can jump in on. We called RN Network and submitted an application and in 1 day the guy landed us a job in san diego. I think it really depends on who you go with for the job, and i'm already learning you need to keep your name in the hat for a few companies not knowing who might have the jobs on your next stent. I liked the people I talked to at faststaff and they have jobs in the new england area but out west it seems a little dry right now in the pot. Best of luck.

I was in the same boat with them...hanging on for a great job, the hospital wouldn't get back to them..Took a job with another company after being strung along for a month.

i've traveled with PPR and they take care of you. the pay may not be great, but i don't think anywhere is great. i'm ER too. You should have 3 agencies or so. jobs are hard to get. and I prefer to get a recommendation on a recruiter than just call up and get whoever answers the phone. i would travel again with PPR in a heartbeat.

That is crazy that they cancel staff over travel! And doesn't seem fair. We don't have many travel nurses in MI, that I know of anyway, but a hospital I work for has Flex which are nurses who float within the system, and get paid big. Those people are usually canceled first because they make more!
