Anyone move out of State for nursing school?

Hi, curious if anyone has done this? We are looking into moving from CT to VA. Wife and I are thinking of doing this. One is due to lower cost few programs looked out of State would save us $200 per class. Two more programs available. Three flexibility of programs (Found a few evening & a night program). Four less stringent requirements up here prerequisites expire in 4 to 5 years. So you take a year or two depending on how much a load you take. Apply to a program then 6 month's have to wait to find out if accepted. If not accepted wait another six months to apply and wait another six months to receive an answer. So sometimes have to retake prerequisites again and reapply. With my wife did the LPN programs while offered by the State, but now on a ticking clock with prerequitses. Heard VA has a 10 year expiration on prerequisites. Another issue is uniformity with prerequisites above the ASN level so have to usually choose 1 BSN program to apply to.

Bit nerveracking though. Lots of uncertainty. Wife and I have never lived in another State before. Be close to some family members, but away from a lot of family/friends. No certainty it work out and have to search out jobs. With jobs have to adjust to possibly lower pay. Also have to see if classes from an outside college transfer over. It also could work out no one ever knows.

Looking for responses from anyone who has done something similiar? Did it work out in your favor?

We wouldn't make the jump until one of us landed a job first of course.

Many times universities will require a minimum amount of time of residency in the State in order to grant an In-State tuition rate (could be up-to a year). Please check on that before you decide to move.
