Anyone make it into nursing school with below a 3.0 GPA?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi all,

I was just curious if anyone has been accepted with under a 3.0 GPA.. I have a 2.8 overall and since I've taken so many classes I'd have to take 20+ hours and make A's just to bring it up to a 3.0....:uhoh3: I scored a 91% overall for HESI and A's and one B in pre-reqs.. I find out in a month if I make it in... Just wanted to keep my hopes high and see if anyone has made it in with a low gpa..

I had a buddy who got accepted to a good bsn program with a 2.9. It rear but it happens.

Specializes in Primary Care, OR.

I did! Starting nursing school this summer. Was accepted with a 2.864 GPA. B's in all my pre-reqs. NLN Composite 130.

It all depends on what school you are looking at and what their requirements are. Just because you are a 4.0 student doesnt mean you will make a great nurse and doesnt mean you have retained any more info than classmates that fell below a 4.0. Maybe those four O'ers just tested better.

Keep your head up OP! Some schools mine included really base their decisions on your essays and recommendations and also the personal interview. Some major issues in nursing these days is who's in it for the $ and who's really in it because they want to practice this art. Schools want to know that their students are going to make a real contribution to society and that they'll get a better rep for these community caregivers!

Now looking back at the date on this post... OP did you get in!?!?

It may also depend on where you live. Some schools application is based on grades, some are not.

Hi do you think I would be a good candidate for Touro, I just applied and I have a Gpa of 3.3 and 107 on NLN I know a little low. But hoping for the best.
