Dear Mallen 9,
The best way you can get a job for CNA(actually, you are not CNA yet since you don't have certification. you need to take IL state exam..it will be ...Nov 15th, 2007)--> so maybe PCT,.... you better check LTC or Nursing Home first. In case of Hospitals, They prefer experienced NA or CNA..Once you have experience about 6 months nursing home, then move on to Hospital....Anyone else with better idea?? BAPA
forgot to tell you..some of nursing home, they pay for your tuition..HCR Manor, Lutheran home, etc..
i understand your situation, but don't give up on hospitals, be persistant if you would rather a hospital environment as opposed to ltcf. i just had my second interview today for a job at a hospital in crown point indiana, i feel great about how it went but i won't know for sure if i got it until monday. i was persistant but not a pain in the butt!! it got me this far, hopefully it will be worth it! i think it depends on the environment you want to work in, i choose a hospital because i believe that i can learn a lot more and care for many different kinds of people.
great luck!!
RUSH hires nursing students as NA's. you have to successfully complete one semester of med surge clinicals before applying. I worked there during my last year of nursing school. check out the site: http://www.jobsatrush.com/
Currently they're not hiring, but they update their site frequently.
Good luck to you!

I'm a current loyola university student in Chicago. I am trying to find employment in the area as an assistant or pct while I finish up my year in school. I would love the experience and I need some extra cash. Anyone know of hospitals in the area that would allow a student nurse to have this kind of position? I know Loyola University does, but other than that I've had no luck.
Thanks
