I signed a contract with Lloyds over a month ago and will be starting with them in Manhattan soon. Only after the contract was signed, was I told that I would have to pay my own utilities and incur other expenses prior to my starting. To top it all off, I was just told last week that I don't get a travel reimbursment until one week after my contract ends-like that is really going to help me. When I asked if I could take a housing stipend instead of the apt where I have to pay for my own utilities, I was told that I wouldn't see any of the stipend for a month & that the last housing stipend payment is paid out one month after the end of the contract. And, they want me to purchase my own malpractice insurance to cover them. What gives with this company? Has anyone had a good experience with them and am I just overreacting? It just seems like they were being sneaky by not being up front about all the things they don't do, that other reputable companies will.

You are not over reacting, what they are wanting you to do is not acceptable practice in the world of travel nursing. Your utilities are normally included. Not all include cable or telephone but other incurred expenses should be covered.
Not sure why you signed with them if all of this was not written into your contract before you signed it. All of this should have been in the contract in the first place. And this is just another reason to make sure that it is all there. If not in the contract, then it does not exist.
I have never heard of them before, and I guess this is the reason why. What did you hear about them that made you choose them over the others?
Thank you for your response.
To answer your question is a bit of a long story that I will try to condense. I heard about them while I was visiting NYC to show a dog of mine at an event called Westminster. I had to use an emergency room nearby the Hotel Pennsylavania (where we stayed) & was told by one of the nurses about travel nursing and the company. Since I loved my short stay in NYC & the hospital I received care at, I looked into taking my very first travel job there. I really knew nothing about these type of contracts and what I needed to look out for. I guess I am learning now, the hard way. Another nurse I was talking to recommeded this site and I am so glad I have found somewhere I can obtain help. I find this site quite remarkable and informative. Is there anything else you can think of to stear me in the right direction of what I should do? Are you allowed to give me recommendation of other companies here? I am sorry if I am asking too many questions. It is just that I feel so stupid now for not finding a way to look into this better than I did.
Not sure who is doing assignments in NY right now, but always make sure that everything is written into your contract before you sign it, such as when you will be reimbursed for anything and if you will be reimbursed.
If it is not in writing, then it just does not exist and they do not have to honor it.
There are other threads on this forum where people have posted about doing assignments in NY, and they have been very happy with them and everything was taken care of.
You can try to use the search engine that we have here to find threads specific to NY Travel. You may also wish to check out the NY Forum that you can find under the Region tab at the top and you may find more information there. Sometimes nurses will post when under the specific state if they want information just for that locale.
Best of luck to you, and glad that you are enjoying our site here. Please have a good look around and then let me know if you have more questions.

Having a bit of difficulty with them right now; although, not with the same issue as you. PM me if you would like to discuss.
