I totally think it's weird too! But my friend is a current student and says that's what was required so we'll see what happens this year. I am number 4 on the list, very excited about that because I went in with relatively few points but thought I interviewed well. Who knows how it really works. Is MHCC your first choice? Sounds like you have a pretty good chance considering they went through so much of the wait list last year! Good luck

Any current students or friends of current students know what the story is with Portland area programs (MHCC in particular) requiring either an iPhone or Ipod touch? I need a new phone soon (mine is falling apart) and I really, really don't want an iPhone, but am hesitant to buy something else and be stuck in a contract if it turns out I will in fact have to switch to AT&T and get an iPhone for school. I have heard they require it for the nursing apps, but Android has nursing apps as well and I'm hoping another smartphone will do. Either that or an iPod touch, however this seems weird as I think you could only use it where wifi is available (correct me if I'm wrong). I have a friend who started MHCC in winter (class of 2013) and he says an iPhone or Ipod touch was required. I am high on MHCC's alternate list and expect to get in, I haven't called to ask about this because I'm sure they are busy this time of year and I'm also not sure whom exactly to call. Orientation is not til late June and I'd like to get a new phone before then. Thanks for any input!
