  1. i personally have notified all schools one way or another, but i know of some people who are holding out. so stay positive
  2. Most of the programs ask wait listed people not to call, I think the best bet is to ask people you know are on the wait list if they have heard
  3. Thanks for this! Did you transfer last fall? I heard a lot of it is online - I will be transferring from MHCC not CCC but I heard that for the community college students who transfer for their BSN at OHSU it's mostly online. I really can't seem to get much more information than that so if you want to share it would help! Thanks again
  4. Yes!! I heard from them on Monday, although I was pretty high on the list but they are indeed moving through. As a reminder to everyone else please notify your schools if you know whether you intend to accept, think of the wait listers! :) Good luck
  5. If things went according to plan MHCC should have accepted 64 students, and I believe the top 40 of the remainders would be alternates. Make sure you reply to your alternate letter, when I did they gave me an actual wait list number and I was happy to find out I'm high on the list. The other thing I can tell you is they and many other area schools went through quite a bit if not all of their alternate lists last year - you figure the top candidates get acceptances to multiple schools and can't attend them all. Stay positive, getting on multiple wait lists means your chances are still good! The deadline for notification is mid-June for most schools, but it's not unheard of for people on the alternate lists to be called as late as the week before classes start. Whatever you do, be sure to attend orientations and fulfill all requirements of each program, basically do everything you'd do if you expected to enroll. Good luck!
  6. It made me smile! Hope you didn't think I was bothered by it, I was trying to defend you:)
  7. I do think the ugly comment was intended with humor but I will say MHCC's program for one does not take place on the Gresham campus, rather in a newer building off Burnside. And I'm fully aware that cheating can happen anywhere, but it's more blatant and rampant in some places than others. Nothing naive about recognizing that.
  8. Okay, this is probably my tenth post today - sorry! But I just got my CCC letter - as expected, I've been placed on the alternate list, however I was under the impression they were giving wait list numbers. Mine just says they regret to inform me they are unable to offer me a spot, and requested I not contact them to inquire about where I am on the list. Sounds a lot more somber than my MHCC alternate letter! (which I found out after responding that I am at the top of the MHCC alternate list). Anyone else not accepted get a different letter from CCC? I think I'm giving up on this one! Lots of people seem to like this program but think I'm better off moving forward with one of the other two.
  9. Haa! Sylvania is mildly ugly I suppose, however MY problems with it are the at times horrendous parking, going to that side of town in general, and sorry if this sounds harsh but the students! The classes I've taken there were typically (NOT all, but many) a younger, somewhat less mature crowd, cheating at times seemed to be rampant (I was once asked by another student for my answers to a test while the teacher was in earshot), and there was overall less respect in the classroom. I don't have time for that. In my opinion a campus like Cascade has students who work, raise families etc. They are not preoccupied with pettiness, and they value their education. A lot more respect and maturity, and that's the campus I've spent most of my time at PCC. Probably a gross generalization and I'm sorry for that. Obviously the nursing program itself would probably be a little more advanced crowd, but overall I think Sylvania has a different vibe. Like I said though, I expect the students in the nursing program itself would be a great group of people. So I hope what I've said wouldn't change anybody's mind - I have no intention of bad-mouthing anything about PCC, they are a wonderful institution that has changed my life!
  10. You obviously worked hard and earned it if you made it in! The process has only become more competitive by the years so you should be proud :) I too am hoping for a summer of working at my new job and no homework, however it looks like I will have to take an 8-week Microbiology! Thought I could put it off but suddenly everyone and their brother is saying to get it done before starting the program. oooops
  11. Interesting, thanks for that. CCC's interview process was the most brutal for me, the staff seemed nice enough but during the interview itself it seemed very intimidating! Lots of blank stares while each person was speaking, constantly wondering what was going through the interviewers' heads! I also thought the typed portion flew by and I didn't get a chance to proofread. MHCC on the other hand, while I didn't like scratching my answers out by hand on paper, I liked the variety of questions and felt we were given plenty of time to think out our answers. I also loved the continual interaction with the interviewers, very down to earth and calming in my opinion. I absolutely loved that process and all the information we were given, and it's a huge part of what tilted me toward their program - before that I couldn't have imagined turning down my beloved PCC for anything! I have heard that many people disliked MHCC's interview however, so I guess it's funny that I liked it. Guess it's good we each have our preferences so we're not all trying to squeeze into the same school! :) Thanks again for all your responses, it's good to hear everyone's decision processes.
  12. I too am not a fan of Sylvania! As of now it's looking like I have my choice between PCC and MHCC, leaning toward MHCC, and still haven't heard from CCC although I highly, highly suspect I will be at the bottom of their alternate list as I went in to the interview as an alternate (almost no discretionary points from those guys) and didn't interview particularly well either. That should put me somewhere near the bottom. I'm not about to decline a sure shot at the other two programs in hopes of making my way up a long list at CCC, nor am I about to hog my spots for weeks on end while I wait and see what happens (nothing wrong with waiting, but I personally would rather let each school know my decision as soon as I can! Lots of hopeful alternates patiently waiting for news and I'd like to help move that process along). Having said all that, if I hear what I expect to from CCC, it's down to PCC and MHCC for me and while I'm leaning toward MHCC, I'd love to hear as much testimony as possible before solidifying my decision. I never expected to be in this position but suddenly I'm realizing this is going to be a very intense two years of my life and I'd like to make the best choice possible! Congrats to all of you who have gotten in, never thought you'd get here huh?! Me neither
  13. Hope I'm not butting in but curious why some of you have ruled out MHCC? Is it the strike issues or something else? I have several friends who go or went there and have great things to say, and just wondering if any of you have heard to the contrary. I too am trying to weigh my options. Thanks
  14. I understand it's a difficult situation but look at it this way - at least you are going through this while you can still change your mind! Follow your gut and do what feels right for you. It is a great honor to be accept to OHSU but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with choosing something else! I am in a somewhat similar situation in that I have a choice between two schools, one of which I adore as an institution and feel very loyal to, but the other has in my opinion a better reputation as far as the actual nursing program for both of these schools. I think in the end you have to think of yourself and choosing the program you feel is right for you, financially and otherwise. Good luck
