I'm planning on moving to Vegas after graduation in Feb and don't know if I should try to go with straight transfer through HCA to Sunrise or VA. I'm at the VA here in KC, Mo and it's okay. I'm tempted to go VA just because the benefits I've heard are amazing. I'm wanting to work in oncology but for the first year or two I plan on just doing med/surg. If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

The VA is hard to get into out here for just that reason, the benefits. Also you work 8hr shifts there, no 12. If I were you I'd transfer to an HCA facility. You have the choice of Sunrise, Mountainview, or Southern Hills. Both Sunrise and Mountainview take new grads. The medsurg at Sunrise is tough, I did clinicals there, high acuity, lots of psych and stroke. But Sunrise also has a huge oncology program including child oncology. Mountainview is nicer and newer with typically less acuity but not alot of specialized services. I have a friend trying to get into the VA here in vegas and she knows people there but still had to submit three letters of recommendation and still probably won't get a job. There's practically no turnover.

Wow when I moved here in 2003, VA was begging for nurses.
When I looked online for jobs they only had 3 positions 2 for ED and 1 for ICU. I'm wanting to work oncology and I've heard Sunrise is probably the place to be so I'll probably just stick with that.
