Differences between St Rose Siena and San Martin
I have an interview with both places this Friday and I was just wondering if anyone could give me some of the goods and bads of both places. I know St Rose is where I want to work and it will be on a Med Surg/Oncology floor but if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. There is only so much you can hear from locals that were patients and what HR and Directors will actually tell you. I want to hear it from nurse's perspective. I've worked for an HCA hospital here in KC area and well it wasn't the best experience so I'm hoping to have more of a team atmosphere then watch your back because lots of people have knives ready to stab you in it. Any input is great. Thanks!!

Relocating as a New Grad?
I was planning on moving to LV this Feb as a new grad and all I had to do was fill out paperwork for NV license and could start right away. Unfortunatetly for me I didn't pass critical care so I have to stay in KC for another year for one class before I can make the move. I would suggest start calling hospitals you want to work at and set some things up. I did that and was supposed to meet with Sunrise again so I could just transfer out there. Anyway enough about my sob story. Congrats on being done with school and good luck getting back closer to home.

Anyone know anything about the VA
When I looked online for jobs they only had 3 positions 2 for ED and 1 for ICU. I'm wanting to work oncology and I've heard Sunrise is probably the place to be so I'll probably just stick with that.

Anyone know anything about the VA
I'm planning on moving to Vegas after graduation in Feb and don't know if I should try to go with straight transfer through HCA to Sunrise or VA. I'm at the VA here in KC, Mo and it's okay. I'm tempted to go VA just because the benefits I've heard are amazing. I'm wanting to work in oncology but for the first year or two I plan on just doing med/surg. If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

New Grad and new to area needs advise
I'm also moving out to Vegas but I won't be out there until Feb when I finish school. I was just out there a couple weeks ago trying to get a feel for hospitals and how hard it will be to get a job. What area are you wanting to focus on? I want to work oncology so everyone I spoke with in the area said Sunrise was a good hospital for that. I also work for HCA here in Mo and looking at doing a transfer to make life easier. From what I've been told if you work for one HCA you pretty much know what all of them are like. As far as Summerlin all I heard was it is a newer hospital nice but nothing else. You also want to take into account where you live and traffic. I would find out which hospital has a better orientation and possibilities to get moved into an area you actually want to end up in so your not stuck in med/surg and doing something you don't like. Hope that helps.

Finding a NAP position in Vegas?
I'm moving to Las Vegas in Feb 09 and I can give you some advice I got at an HCA hospital here in KC, Mo. They advised me to apply for PCT or PCA position and then once they got the application and saw I was in school they just automatically gave me a NAP position instead. Don't know if that will help but that's what the HR dept told me to do and I got a job within a week after. Good Luck
