I'm assuming you have (or are going to get) an otc, in the box, EPT sorta pregnancy test? If so, then the instuctions usually claim that they are accurate as early as the first day of your missed period. If you're still in the very early stages of a missed cycle, I believe the best advice is to test your first-thing in the morning urine because it has sat in your bladder all night and will have the highest concentration of the pregnancy hormone (if you are pregnant).
I was told by my gynecologist that if you get a positive result, even from an otc test, you can pretty much bet that you are pregnant. The chance of a false positive is really slim. If you get a negative, and are still worried in a few days, then you might want to retest.
Not sure what result you're hoping for, but best of luck to you either way :)

Blood tests can be done before the home tests, but not a huge amount sooner. These days the home tests are so good, very reliable.

First Response claims to be able to detect hcg up to five days BEFORE an expected period. The earliest I've ever had an accurate result is the day before my expected period.

one of our midwives said that the blood test & the earliest/most sensitive home urine tests (First Response, AIM) are pretty accurate about 10 days after conception- so if you have regular 28 day cycles that would be about 4 days before your next period. Home pregnancy rests vary in sensitivity, some can't detect hCG levels below 50 or 100mIU. IIRC, First Response can be senstive to levels as low as 15-20, and the AIM tests (cheapy tests you can get online, amazon.com even has them) have similar sensitivity. If you do a google search on "pregnancy tests sensitivity" you should be able to get some good info-

Before too many more post here, it appears this OP will not be reading the answers anyhow. For some reason, she has been banned.

I think it's probably because she posted the same question with about three different titles this morning or last night.:)

yeah....since we're comparing preg. tests...I've always used EPT. Last pregnancy, two years back, I took the test on (oh so ironic) April Fool's Day and it was positive. I already knew I was pregnant: I'd conceived on 3/18.

Why would she get banned for that? I see many people posting their exact same post 5 times in different threads/forums.
