My husband is taking a new job in Soledad, Ca. I'm a new LVN and just starting to look for work. Does anyone here have any knowledge of what hospitals, nursing facilities in that area?
General information on places to live and such would be great too?
Thanks in advance

I was thinking about accepting a job at Salinas in the Post Partum dept untill I spoke to the nurse manager. It sounded like a med-surg floor more than post partum and she said that because there are alot of migrant workers exposed to field chemicals you see alot of disformed and sick babies being born. Then she said she wanted us to volunteer to work 4 twelve hour shifts a week instead of the regular 3 twelve hour full time work weeks. I was like forget it!!

CHOMP; avoid NMC like the plague if your are considering hospital nursing
By NMC you mean Nativdad Medical Center?...
Somebody else told you to avoid it. But that was the name of the hospital that I didn't like as well, at least the post partum floor.
yes, that's the one

HI, I originally came to monterey county as a traveler at Salinas Valley Memorial, from Sacramento. I liked this area so I stayed, but I took a job at NMC, and it is great. They use a few LVN's in the clinics, and the ER.
krazykatrn,
Thanks so much, we actually put off our move until I finish school. I started an RN progam in the fall. But all the information will be great help when I graduate in May and looking for my first RN position.
Happy Holidays,
