Anyone else find out today?
I got an e-mail too. I am deciding among UMDNJ, Georgetown, Samuel Merritt, or waitlist at Kaiser...
this is more stressful than interviewing...
The interview was pretty painless. Mostly questions about what you have done as an ICU nurse....what you want to do. They asked a lot of questions to determine if you know what you're getting into in terms of lifestyle change, time committment, finances while in school etc. They also asked a lot of questions about the role of a CRNA and how it differs from an anesthesiologist. Nothing clinical. The programs (sm vs usc) are very different. I know a lot more about SM's but am open to USC's as well. It's a difficult decision. Yes, USC's interview should be much more relaxed since I know I have options. Congrats gongju on your acceptance to Kaiser.
VERY, very happy to say I will be going to SM. I will be taking the 3 year route as I have 2 small ones!! Looking forward to September! See you guys then.
Hi, I live in the North Bay and will be applying to SM this winter maybe even next winter depending on how fast I can finish my BSN. What kind of nursing experience do you have? I know that SM states they accept ER experience, but I wonder if anyone has any insight as to whether or not ER nurses actually DO get in. I'd sure love to keep my 12 year old in the area. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing--what you are finding. Thanks for sharing--Congratulations and good luck.
Bless you for your welcome reply! Have you started yet? I hope you enjoy the program; I've heard really great things about Samuel Merritt. If you aren't from the area--how do you find Oakland? I've heard they also start people at an alternate site in Sacramento--I'm not sure if this is just for clinicals. We had a guy from our ER go there--before my time in the ER--everyone said he went to Samuel Merritt in Sacramento?
Best Wishes
I do like the program, although anesthesia school isn't an experience I'd care to repeat. SMC has clinicals all over the state and in some other states. There are many clinical sites in and around Sacramento. The rotations are fairly short so even if you're far from home, it's only for a few months. Sacramento has a classroom facility and 1st semester one course is broadcast up there for the Sac people. Otherwise all classes are in Oakland.
