I'm applying to Mercy and Carolinas College nursing programs, but I'm really concerned about my chances of getting in. My college GPA is a 3.0, Ugh. I had a 3.27 until my last semester in college. Unfortunately do to life circumstances I got a 4 credit D and a few C's. Ugh. Killed my GPA. Anyway, I'm taking the SAT's in Jan, but math isn't my strong suit (especially word problems). I'm sure i'll get average scores, but they won't be enough to stand out from the crowd of other applicants and make up for my lower GPA. I do have a bachelor's degree, and I will have all but one of my non-nursing courses out of the way. Maybe that will help? So, just wondering what my chances are and if anyone has gotten into either school with a similar GPA? Thanks!
I was there from about 2:00 to 3:30. That included getting all the info from the associate director, a teacher, and the current class president, filling out some brief paperwork, trying on uniforms, and talking to the financial aid lady. It really was exciting to finally find out what we'd be doing in nursing school and meeting some of our classmates. And by the way, the school population is 140 total. They only admitted 30 for our class, but that will likely go up a little bit according to the associate director. By the way, bring the package you were sent in the mail. It contains some of the forms you'll probably need for the financial aid lady.
Sounds good. I havn't recieved anything too much from the school other than the form to accept and the background check. I was waitlisted at # 1 and then got my letter last week, so maybe they will send me more info once they recieve my acceptance confirmation. I'm really excited!
Do you know how the semesters work as far as time off and break b/t semesters?? When they say straight through is it -really straight through or will be get Christmas break or time b/t summer and fall sessions???
Congratulations on getting in! You will get a package in the mail when they receive your acceptance. It'll tell you a bunch of thing you need to do ie. school supplies, immunizations, drug screen, physical etc. The breaks for 2009-2010 are :
Spring break 3/8/10-3/12/10
Holiday 4/2/10
Holiday 5/31/10
Summer Break 6/30/10-7/2/10
I'm sure we get other breaks later but these were the only ones listed in my package. I guess they can only project so far.
Nope, nothing interesting. I have to take growth and development but she said I can try and test out of it, so I'll probably do that. I guess it's just a waiting game until school starts. At some point I'll have to do all the uniform, ID badge stuff, but that can probably wait a month or so.
Hey! I ran across this school after going to the wrong website on google. they didnt have too much info on the website though. So could you guys answer a couple questions for me.
Is this an LPN, ADN, or BSN program?
What is the usual accepted GPA for admission?
How hard is the TEAS?
What is the usual cost?
How long is the accelerated program and when does it start?
Thanks!

I think I have completed most of my gen eds and pre reqs too. I think all I have to take is growth and development. I can't wait to go and check it out! How long were you there?? So since they only have 30 people starting in Jan will we all be in the same class?
I thought they let like 140 students in, or is that 140 total in the school and as students graduate then let more in?? hm...oh well! We are in!
