Hi! I'm curious to hear from anyone who's worked for any of the St. David locations in Austin. I'm considering applying for a GAIN position this summer after I finish my skills class but before I begin nursing school full-time.

Thanks in advance!

I'm an ACC nursing student, 2nd sem., and work at Seton Main as a CA. I had clinicals at St David's RR. I think the people of Seton make up for the lack of "luster" with their attitudes. The people are great. On the otherhand, when we were at St "dollars", there were 2 nurses on a 32 bed stepdown, IMC floor that was actually informative and nice. Having to charge every little thing to every pt, and the rudeness from the staff, made my clinicals uninviting. I have heard from other people that work for Seton say they worked at St D's, and half say the same and half say different. I haven't been impressed. That's just my opinion

Thanks, austinrnguy.

Did you apply specifically for a GAIN CA position at Seton, or did you apply for a regular CA job? I've heard that Seton's benefits include tuition reimbursement - is this true?

I volunteered at Children's several years back, and I enjoyed the experience. Most of the CAs on the unit I was assigned to were ACC nursing students, and the nurses were all friendly.

I've worked at St. David's North Austin and had a bad experience there then I transferred to Georgetown where I am happy. They are all owned by HCA but each hospital is different. I say check it out and make up your own mind.
