Anyone ever take A&P I and Chemistry together?

Published

Hi everyone,

I am a full time pre-nursing student in a community college. I have taken all my pre-reqs except for A&P I and Chemistry. I would really like to knock out both of these classes next semester but I am nervous. I took a very full load of classes this semester (Algebra, ENG 102, BIO 181, Philosophy) and am ready to shoot myself now that all my finals are next week. This was a really tough semester and I told myself - never again. Anyways, I have had several people tell me that A&P I and Chemistry can be taken together and it wouldn't be that bad, especially because those would be my only classes and I don't work outside the home. I do have a family (hubby and kids) that takes a lot of my time though. I wanted to see if anyone else has taken these classes together, is it really difficult or is it manageable? I talked to my nursing adviser and she said that they don't usually recommend taking 2 sciences together but these are 2 different sciences and she shrugged her shoulders and told me that if I did well in biology (I got an A) and those were my only two classes keeping me from applying to nursing school in the Fall then to just take them.

But I just wanted to get feedback from someone. I'm not in a huge rush to apply. If it is truly difficult then I don't mind just taking one class this Spring and the other this Fall and applying next Spring. Just thought I'd get some opinions. Thank you for your time!

I think you should be realistic if your someone who is like me ...I need the pressure to pass my classes so two hard classes in one shot is grat for me, the question should be is it for you? while we can all coment about how you should or shouldn't you should ask yourself can I and have some faith in yourself! Best of Luck in whatever you choose to do!:yeah:

Thank you for all your responses. It sounds like A&P is going to be challenging by itself. While I do have decent study skills, after reading some of the replies on all the memorization, I don't think I have the study skills to take 2 lab sciences AND still take care of my kiddos. I didn't mention I have FIVE kids! LOL!! 13 years old and all the way down to 1 year old. So I've decided to take chem next semester with nutrition and then A&P in the Fall with a wellness class or developmental psychology or some other "fluff" course. I have a 3.98 GPA and I'm scared to death to do bad in a class. The college I want to go to for my BSN even looks at how many classes you've withdrawn from (from what I've heard) so I don't want to be in that situation either since I had to withdraw from 3 classes in the past.

I SOOO respect those of you that can take 2 lab sciences and still do great, even with kiddos to take care of. But in an effort to prevent a nervous breakdown I think I'll stick with one at a time. :) It will push me further back from applying to nursing school but oh well.

Again thanks for all your help - you helped me make a good decision I think.
