Anyone ever cross trained in PACU and OR?

Hi Everyone!

I know typically they want ER or ICU experience before moving on to PACU, but I was recently talking to a fellow RN who went from Med-Surg into PACU. I have a question -is it common, or has anyone heard, of settings where RNs do both OR and PACU? Cross trained to do both? Just curious, thanks!

You will find this set up in some places, most likely a bit more common in ambulatory settings than acute care hospital settings. One of the departments I cover would like to have all RNs cross trained to work in both PACU and circulate, but only 1 is up and running so far.
