Anyone else feel like a scapegoat?

I have been a nurse for 20 years. Throughout these years nurses have been abused, yelled at and blamed for a multitude of problems. At my job now, we (the RNs) have been drawn into a process that should not even involve nursing, but a doctor on staff is insisting we do this activity with an advanced practice nurse or a doc. This has lead to some problems here and there and the end result of these problems is that it is the RNS fault, even though we are acting as an observer in this procedure. This plus so many other things are blamed on us, things the docs are responsible for, but we are the third party checking behind them to make sure things were done. God forbid we miss something because if a doc forgets to do something it's the nurses fault because we check behind them. Does this sound right? The doc or advanced practice nurse is nor reprimanded, but we are for their mistake. I am not saying this happens a lot, it is occasional.
