I know nursing is what I want to do. I love the field, I grew up with it because of my mom and aunt. I want to do healthcare and I want to be a nurse. I have shadowed and that further solidified my decision.
I just have this nagging feeling. I am super nervous about nursing school. I psych myself out wondering if I will ever be able to remember all the things we will learn and I wonder if I will pick up after graduation. I worry about making a life or death mistake.
Has anyone else had those feelings at all? I know they are probably unwarranted but it freaks me out.

i feel the same way. i have two aunts in nursing, one a head nurse in maryland and another who works in orange. i am uneasy about the transition to nursing school but i figure when there's a will, there's a way and ill make it happen somehow.

i know exactly what you're talking about. My mom and basically every one of my aunts are nurses! í'm getting a lot of pressure from them and its freaking me out as well! i know i want to do it and i really am trying hard in school but sometimes the pressure i'm getting from the rentals is overwhelming!
anyway i guess what im trying to say is that you're not alone we're all on the same boat here so don't worry and hang in there!!

It is simply a matter of believing in yourself. How did perform in high school and other academic challenges? How did you deal with the stress of those situations? Nursing School is a process and you build upon what you already know. As a matter of fact if you do not intend to be committed to life long learning ....nursing is not for you. To deal with nursing school you need to focus on the individual steps....get through this day......pass this one test....get through this clinical rotation. All the while you will be learning what you actually will be doing one day as your profession. The great thing about nursing is that you can get a job just about anywhere and if you do not like one area there are so many to choose from. Never let your fear prevent you from getting started...just set small goals and remember to reward yourself on the way for each goal you achieve. I too always wanted to be a nurse and have never regretted my decision. My employers have been lucky to have me as I have always found a way to deliver high quality care, even though at times it was difficult. You are an assett b/c you already have a love for the profession.
Thank you so much :)
See, I have ADHD. In high school, after going off meds, I did terribly (I went from a high honor student to Bs and Cs). I almost didn't graduate. Right now I have a 4.0 and all As in my classes right now, except for a B in APHY. I think knowing that I am doing this mainly for my son as well has really given me the motivation to do well. I don't think I was so motivated in HS because I really had no future plans.
Thanks for the great advice!
