Tick tock tick tock... I'm dying to hear back. *taps foot*

If at all possible, you should NOT work during the program. We have lost too many people because they couldn't juggle it all. I know not everyone if fortunate enough to have that choice, but if you do- take it! First and third are the hardest! We lost 8 people in 1st and 7 in third. I would start brushing up on your math and medical terminology now. If you have that down well, brush up on your physiology. I would recommend getting the Davis Q&A and Lipincott's Q&A NCLEX books. Also, for the fluid and electrolyte sections, I would recommend "Fluids&Electrolytes made incredibly easy". The books they have you get that I hardly used were Liley and Tabers. If you are low on $ (which you will be after books) ask them about donated books. They have previous semesters that have donated theirs. The only book that I know you can't get away with an old edition is the Lewis med/surg. book. That will be your bible after first semester. My last words of advice- GET A STUDY GROUP! It makes a huge difference. Good luck!

:D

BTW... to your question about clinicals..... They did accomodate me in 1st and let me go where I requested. However, it was because I was going through radiation at the time and I needed to get to my treatments everyday after clinicals for 6 weeks. So, Yes- but only to a certain extent. They can not accomodate everyone, but sometimes they can make it work.

WOW, you are amazing to go through radiation as well as do nursing school. Just another proof to me that it is possible with tough circumstances. Did you have to miss anytime from the program? I hope you are in recovery!! Thank you for the advise on the books. I am pretty strong in math, but should I get a medical dosage book? Is that the math you are referring to? Medical terminology!! Will start studying that asap!! I'm going to amazon those other three books now!! You have been such a huge help, you have no idea!! I am stressing about rearranging my life, but this is definitely helping me get prepared!

Hi all! I was recently accepted to start the Sutter Extended program for Spring 2012!! I am elated, excited, scared and nervous all at once!!! Kdun12- did you received your information packet?

Crutschmann - I have been reading all of these posts about Sutter Extended and you have been EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you for taking the time to help us "newbies" out! I do have one question....(of course) Is Pharmacology taught throughout the program? I wasn't a pre-req or co-req for the program, but I don't see it in the curriculum posted on Sac City's website. Thanks again!

bec593-

No problem, I am happy to help. As for the pharmacology, yes its taught throughout the program.

Good luck

:)

Thank you! Good luck on your NCLEX and finding a job! I would imagine you have made some great contacts as Sutter so hopefully those have lead to some possible job opportunities for you!

Anyone who has attended Sutter Extended Campus RN program want to estimate a start date for a Spring 2012 class? Anxious... =)
