Hello, I just received an interview invitation to UPenn and would like to hear from anyone who is currently attending their nurse anesthesia program.... what was the interview like? how can I prepare for the interview? any specific questions you remember being asked? How do you like the program now that you are in? Pros/cons? I appreciate any advice or personal experiences anyone is willing to share!!!!!

Hello. I interviewed there in May 2008. The interview was basically get-to-know you questions. They did ask me to tell them the types of patients I typically took care of and to tell them about some of the vasoactive drips. When I mentioned I took care of patients with balloon pumps, they asked me to tell them about IABPs. So the clinical portion of the interview is basically lead/dictated by you. What I remember most about the interview is that the interviewers did not smile at all. I am from the South and people smile all of the time and that struck me as unusual.

I am not attending UPENN, but I start University at Buffalo in the fall of this year. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

Hi Natbug, thank you so much for responding to my posting! I am from California and we like to smile a lot too! Haha! I would like to ask you how many people were present during your interview? Did they give you a tour or tell you about the school? Thank you again for your input! Cali749

Hey, it was my pleasure. The Program director and Associate program director were both present during my interview. They both asked me questions. They did not offer to show me around, but they did give me an overview of the program and asked if I had any questions about it. My interview was not too long (about 30 minutes give or take a few). Not too bad. Good luck!!!
