Anyone from Community College of Beaver County?

Just graduated from there last Thursday. What would you like to know specifically?

I go to CCBC and I was in the LPN program and missed it by one point. I got 73 and you need 74 to pass. The class is hard. I am taking the NLN entrance test again. I like all the teachers and it is a hard program and one of the best. It is best to have pre req's done first. It takes toll on you trying to study for other classes plus learn all the nursing stuff. well, ANYTHING you would be willing to share with me would be greatly appreciated... i've "heard" it's one of the best programs in the area and that it's difficult (atleast as far as community college programs go) both to get into and to get through...

i guess the things that concern me the most are- if you start with your LPN, you have to wait out the year to go into the RN program... that the instructors don't care? that was the biggie.

i guess you guys go to Raccoon for classes b/c the allied health building is "under construction"...

if you haven't noticed, i'm really just looking to get an idea of the atmosphere... i'm not originally from beaver county, so...

They said that the construction they are doing on the Allied Health will be done by Fall semester, so they are planning on being back at campus then. It is a hard program to get through....alot of our class failed throughout the program ~ just be prepared to basically set your life aside for the next 2-3 years (3 if your prereq's aren't done). That is no joke, either.

The "evil" instructor retired ~ although, I learned the most from that particular instructor than I learned from ANYONE! It really all depends on who you get, I wouldn't say they don't care. I would say that if it's apparent you are not putting 150% into, well then they don't. But, if you are really trying and going out of your way to improve, they do what they can to help. It's not the hardest just in comparision to Community college's, as you stated, it is one of the hardest programs PERIOD.

I know they have changed alot of things for this year's group, but when I went through (just finished up) we all started out together then before Summer semester you made the choice of going LPN or RN. Now, they do have a seperate LPN program ~ so not exactly sure how they do it now. Maybe you have to choose LPN or RN before starting?? Some instructors are excellent at their job, with other's it's apparent they are new to teaching ~ very apparent! But, no matter how good or bad your instructor, really there's no excuse because you can get the info from your texts and the most part of your learning must be independent anyhow ~ there's just way too much info that they can not come close to covering it all.
