hey dear all, I am new to here and found this website is very helpful with all the warm hearted nurses. My case is very complicated and would like to have any clue of being a nurse in OZ. welcome any comments from all of you guys. I had 4 years nursing diploma and then I worked as a RN for 6 years then went to OZ had a year conversion bachelor nursing degree and back home in 2009, can't pass 7777 or bbbb. From 2009 to 2010 work as RN in my country again. then I went to NZ, however recently I failed the CAP training. ( been in NZ so long have not gotten registration as I have wasted heaps time on my exbf rather than forcus ing on the registration. My questions are 1: have no experience in my 5 years . 2 will arpha assess my application as I failed in NZ? My OET result will expire in January next year. To be a nurse in NZ, the only way is to study degree again through recognition of prior learning. Enroll into the course need to wait at least half year, there is no positions at the beginning of next year, to be honest, I really don't want to study anymore more, I am so old now, and have been refreshing nursing theories along this year. What should I Do next, this issue has caused me of having sleeping and concentration problems. Another thing is 2009 return back to work was in a small nursing home, can't get proper approved letter as they said that was long years ago. I gave the inappropriate employer letter( which I got it since I left) to NZ council.
Any suggestions?? Am I eligible to apply?

Having this many years of not working recently may have an impact on applying for registration in Australia. Suggest reading requirements for AHPRA
do you think it's a better idea go back to work for 450 hours then to apply before OET get expired, I can work for free for three month in a small small hospital, because no hospitals like only work for short term, our country does not have nursing agency of offer job.

Hi Lichen,
Just read the requirements in AHPRA website and follow it. It is never too late to follow your dreams. If it requires that you have a recency of practice for 450 hours that is about 3 months, then do it. Good luck!
I am confused about all these policies, I am on student visa based on a language school. I found that it's hard to find nursing job with limited period, like 3 month up to 5 month. These days surfing on ahpra website quite often. Regarding the recency of practice of 450hours, what happens if I don't meet this standard, then you will find one policy is for nurses in clinical practice who does not have 450 hours in recent of 5 years, after I keep going read, it states these kind of nurses can follow T NMBA 's re-entry to practice which provides information of obtaining registration or return to practice, and this re entry is only available for someone who has registered with Ahpra previous. I don't know it's my reading problem or the policy is really mixed up. really don't know what should I do next, no clue, hopeless,so agitated.
Does anyone know any agency that can help me to apply for Ahpra, filling application documents, I need a honest agency, bit challenging for me to apply by myself. recommend me one ,thx.

For the safety of the patients go back to school or give up being a nurse.
