Well, I just got accepted to an FNP program. Although I'm not starting clinicals until next year, I plan on finding preceptors ahead of time. From what I've read, this is the toughest part of the FNP program.
I was browsing the web for tips on finding preceptors. I found a lot of good tips. Then, three pages into Google, I found ClinicalMatchMe, which is a pay service to assist with matching you with an NP preceptor. The cost is $15 for precepted hour. Right now, I'm thinking: I can't afford this. I'll be knee deep in student loans with just the tuition alone. If I have to pay my preceptor, I'm done. However, I do see the appeal when you're really having difficulty finding a preceptor and you are lacking time.
Has anyone used this service before? I hear it's a controversial business. I'm in the middle of listening to a podcast, where the host is interviewing the CEO of ClinicalMatchMe. What does everybody think about this service? If you've used this service before, would you recommend these to other nurse practitioner students?
Thanks.

I have never heard of this service. Ask your school how preceptors are arranged before paying for a service such as this. I agree with pp to cold call or write letters to NPs in your area. What state ? Which school will you attend?
I'm from MO. I did find a local nurse practitioner association. For $25, I became a student member. I was able to access a preceptor list. I may not have as much difficulty finding a preceptor as other students. I thought of ClinicalMatchMe as a backup, just in case there's a worst case scenario. I do not want to pay for the service, as much as I can. Again, I don't want to be deep in debt after attending an FNP program. I am starting at Olivet Nazarene on Feb 2016.
