Are the Selects better than the Lightweight models? The Lightweight is made of plastic so I would think it wouldn't sound as good as the Select. Would you recommend the Select? Thanks!

I have never really actually used the Select in practice, but I have a friend who was going to EMT school who had one but then he couldn't afford the rest of his schooling, so he stopped...and he just gave me his Select. I tried it out on myself and some friends auscultating heart, breath and bowel sounds...it's just OKAY. These were only healthy individuals so imagine someone who is really sick with diminished sounds. The acoustics on it aren't that great. The tubing is also really short.

I have never tried the Lightweight so I can't compare, but there are nurses that I work with who have the Lightweight and they said it sucks and wish they would have bought something different.

If you can afford it, I would at least go for the Classic II S.E.

I have the classic 2 SE and converted MANY students from their sprague's and lightweights just during our assessment class. It is wonderful. I tried my friends lightweight and could hardly hear. I never have a problem with mine.
